how do i take out the main power from the back?

  • tjc1251 Jun 28, 2009

yes it boots to windows vista. It started probably a month ago, but it would only do it for a few minutes could turn it on and off a few times and it would start working. Now the screen says no signal and the mouse and keyboard aren't working at all, but the tower itself comes on still

Does this unit boot to windows, and if so, is this when you first notice the issue?

One thing you could try is take out the mains power from the back, then take out the bios battery on the motherboard for about 5 mins. this should reset your bios then put them back in and restart your computer. see how you go with that.

just unplug it from the wall. take the left side case cover off and look in the main board there will be a small round battery about 3/4 of an inch round, take that out and let it sit for 5 mins. put the battery back in, turn power back on and boot up the computer and see if that makes a diff

If you installed tha motherboard yourself, check what you've done. If it was dome by someone else, like a technician, he should give you at least aa minimum of warranty.

Startup repair is checking your system for problems

This sounds like an old fashioned Win Vista error.. Try restoring to factory image. From there you can save files you need and restore the PC to its factory default.

Desktop keyboard keeps dying

Have you connected any other USB devices that could be draining power? Try to disconnect everything but your mouse and keyboard and see if the problem comes back, if this rectifies the issue get a powered USB hub to connect the rest of your devices.
Also check that the USB bandwidth and power level limits are not being exceeded, I have attached a picture

HP s3420f BSOD Vista

Vista is a DEAD,OS. (ended now)
got the HP VISTA install disks, or waiting for this moment to happen
as all do.
seem screens bad too. try another borrowed DT screen as a test? easy no?
but.... both main processors , shut down. IF?
what if the GPU chip is overheating, ever do DUST bunny SERVICE
(vacuum it out?) no PC lasts for 10 years and not fill with dust
not one. ever.

BSODs
  1. bad memory chips, try all sticks 1 by one, to prove it.
  2. corrupted VISTA. or Virus infected as most are this old.
  3. low power, power supply in unit weak or noisy.
  4. bad HDD, disk errors, run check desk yet?
  5. reload VISTA fresh? HP media set not MS.
  6. or worse there is always worse.

You can try to do a Power drain of the system ie disconnect all the cables from the pc and press and hold the power button of the tower for 30 to 40 sec. than reconnect only the keyboard the mouse and the monitor and turn it on. try to enter the BIOS page ( keep on tabbing the F10 key to enter BIOS is Windows Vista during the start up and F1 in Windows XP) and from their you can run a Smart test on the Hard drive. You can also try to boot the Pc to the safe mode and check whether the windows loads or not. From the Advanced boot option try to do a Start up repair.

Why wont my hp pavilion slimline play my cds

first go to my computer and click with the right mouse button then choose properties then hardware devices and see if the cd have an yellow icon, if so you need to upgrade your drive.
you also can go to the hp website and on the support option you put your model and get the drivers from there, if nothing works, your cd lent is faulty or needs to bee cleaned.
Thanks

Hi,

Sleep is more commonly known as Hibernation with Vista.
Sometimes certain updates or freshly installed service packs can mess with your settings, or sometimes disable the feature altogether.

Microsoft have released a fix for just this problem.

Go here to Microsoft (link below) read down the page until you see Fix this problem, click on that and then click on Run when prompted.
You should get a message saying that the problem is fixed.

Restart your computer and set your Hibernation settings.

Hope this helps and good luck

Start up Probelms HP Pavilion Slimline

Unplug the AC power, remove the battery, wait a full minute and then reinstall AC and battery. See, if you now power up. Most power up problems are related to AC power, DC input jack, motherboard, memory or processor. A lot depends on your comfort level and expertise in how far you should go in self diagnosis and repair. Good Luck.
