Your computer is most likely overheating.

Make sure it is positioned so that none of the vents are blocked on the unit.
Check it with your hand to see if it's overheating, make sure dust is not blocking the vents.
If the issue persists, could be software or a failed cooling system on the unit.

I can't see my Netflix movie on my laptop I can hear it but I can't see it

Shut down other applications when watching Netflix on your computer.
If you are watching Netflix on a Windows computer, it uses a program called Silverlight to play the video. If your processor goes above 80% usage, Silverlight will shut down the video and play audio only.

To avoid this when watching a movie or lots of video's prop up your laptop with pencil or something else small and slender under the back. Just so the laptop isn't flush with the table or desk. You want airflow under the laptop. It shut down because of overheating to protect itself. Watch videos/movies can be very cpu/video card intensive driving up the temperature. Computer shuts down watching netflix.........1/2 way into a movie Dell Inspiron 1525mj

The most likely thing is that you need to adjust your power savings settings on the computer in Control Panel. Watching a movie doesn't register as "activity" to the system so if you are set to Sleep or Hibernate after an hour that would typically cut you off half way thorught the movie.

You can change the power savings settings or every 30-40 minutes move the mouse around or click the keyboard etc. to restart the timer.
