Question about Acer Aspire 9300-5349 Notebook
My Acer Aspire 9300-5349 Laptop (with Windows Vista, AMD Turion 64x2 TL-56, and DVD-Super Multi DL DVD/CD Drive) no longer recognizes that it has a DVD/CD drive. This is the second time this has happened. Previously, shortly after I purchased the computer, Acer tech led me through the process of getting the computer to recognize the DVD/CD drive again but that was over a year ago. I would like to get it straightened out again and this time be able to save the instructions so that when it happens again, I will be able to fix it immediately. Thank you.
First open the "Device Manager" to check for any error messages related to the device and click on "Start" and select "Control Panel" .
Now double-click on the "System" icon then click on the "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button. A new window appears, and displays whether the device is working properly. If there are any errors, click the "Troubleshoot" button and follow the given onscreen instructions.
Check the DVD that you are trying to use to and ensure that it is free of dirt and scratches and the proper format compatible with your drive.
Now uninstall any drivers that may be on your computer from previous DVD drives.
Now download the latest driver updates for your DVD drive model from Acer website & install it.
Also check on Acer website that your machine has the minimum requirements to operate the drive.
Now restart your computer & check your DVD drive.

Try this. Go to device manager. If the drive is showing up there right click the drive and unistall then reboot.
If the drive still does not show up after reboot go back into the device manager and uninstall the IDE and ATA/ATAPI controllers and then reboot.
I have had the same issue. After doing this my computer picked up the drive.

You can go to my computer properties
and then hardware
then device manager
and then check your drive region and the device is enable or not
if not work then consult the mechanic because the problem of your hardware or damaged motherboard
