This problem occurs because of the channels and dvds itself.. because while recording the dvds or the telecasting the tv channels,,they keep a less sound and record it,, so as the result of it, you get a low sound in television and in some dvds.. thank u.. pla rate me...

Sound on the speaker is very low voices are barely audible. have tried all eq settings but sound remains low please help

Look through your receiver's DSP sound settings. When you locate the volume control for the center channel, adjust it to be in balance with the music and sound FX. Often, I just forget about the DSP and run the sound in stereo with subwoofer. Helps to minimize the different audio mixes between different TV STATIONS AND DVDs.

I am not able to hear the dialog while playing DVDs. The background is great and comes through all 5 speakers, however, to be able to listen to the dialog, I have to switch over to 2-channel or Stereo. ...

Well let me first ask is the center chanel working? or properly hooked up. Cause most of the times when in 5.1 the talking or "dialog" as you put it comes only through the center channel its just kinda how they do it. Listen to see if the center channel is working. if you are unsure try hooking up a speaker that you know works into the center channel speaker output. If no sound comes out then the reciever possible has blown its center channel. Please follow up with a comment and i will be glad to assist you further thanks, Midwes-tek

The voices on DVDs are too low and are drowned out

The centre channel normally has the voices - sounds like it:
  • isn't connected,
  • isn't working or
  • is turned down too far
  • or the system could be faulty

When i watch dvds, the background noise is loud

Go to your set up menu, navigate to speaker set up and check your sound levels to front, center, and rear channels. Adjust as needed to fit the room. My Sony has a test tone option which sends a signal (at levels selected) to each speaker to check sound level and if speaker is connected and in right place.

Certain dvds lose the surround sound

if you are playing older or burnt dvds then chances are they were recorded using only 2 channel or stereo instead of 5.1,6.1 or 7.1 hope this is your solution

Low volume on Direct TV channels

This is a known and ongoing problem with Directv since June. They claim they are trying to "level" all the channels so they are the same volume level. The result so far is that ALL channels are suffering from low volume. Given this has been going on for two months now, Directv may never solve this - General ineptitude - denials - but if you call and tell them you are having low volume, they will give you a three month $5 credit. CALL and COMPLAIN... the only hope we have to get this fixed is to cost them money and time on their customer support lines.!!!!

No human sounds when playing dvds.

sound like the center channel is out
either bad connection at speaker or receiver is not putting out sound on center. A quick swap of speakers at receiver end will tell you if it is the latter

Low sound on my Vizio 50" plasma

Most of HD channel broadcast in 5.1 channel sound. Regular channel broadcast in 2.0 channel sound. You TV only have 2 speakers so you will expect the sound will be low compare with the regular channel.

Hope this will help!

Sound on DVDs

It sounds like she has the player set to output 5.1 surround sound, but only has left and right channel speakers hooked up. Either change the dvd player to only send two channels or hook up a center channel speaker.

Its possible connect a 5.1 sound pc card to Panasonic SC-HT500 hearing the 6 separate channels?

I am afraid the answer is no - this particular Panasonic will only play full surround when watching DVDs. It does not have the right inputs to grab more than stereo sound from your computer.
