Question about Acer Aspire 3610 Notebook

1 Answer

Random Memory access freezing.

My Acer apsire 3610 is a year old, and has recently begun sporadically freezing. THe problem appeared to be based in the memory so i replaced my 256ram with 512 ram,but the problem persists.

It can either happen when i turn the laptop on, it will get to the windows boot screen, and the laptop stops accessing memory, or at least the memory light stops flashing, and the laptop will freeze. The only way i can get my computer to switch on is to reboot many times and hope it works.

The problem can also happen when logged on to windows. I have run spybot and AVG tests, and come up with nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas??

Re: Random Memory access freezing.

Possibilities read on this pics:

or :

Go to C/windows and look for a folder called Faultlog.txt. Open it and it should display all the faults that have occurred. Post a few so we can see if theres anything in particular thats causing it.
i would suggest that you reboot and get into Windows. Press [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [Delete] and click Task Manager. On the Performance tab, it will give you a reading for the amount of processor usage (which should only be a few percent when the system is sitting idle) and another counter for the amount of memory usage (this should be 192Mb, i.e. 196608Kb, or less). Minimise Task Manager.
When your PC starts freezing or looks like it's about to (if you can tell when it's going to happen), then try and bring up the Task Manager window again from the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. Has the processor usage shot up? What has happened to the memory usage? You might need to resize your screens so that you have the Task Manager running at the side whilst you continue working - that way, you'll be able to keep an eye on what's going on.
Give us some feedback about your results and we'll try and diagnose it further :)

and please if my solution was helpfull rate it as SOLVED

I need extra memory for acer aspire 3610 and i want to know how many GB i can put

According to page 6 of the manual, your 3610 came with system memory 256/512 MB of DDR2 400 memory, and is upgradeable to 2 GB using two soDIMM modules.

You can see a list of sources for your memory here. Additionally, you could go to Crucial's site and perform a scan of your computer for suggestions of memory upgrades.

I hope this helped & good luck!

Boot problems with Acer Aspire 3610

do you have power ? if no, check your power outlet and ac adapter first, if both of them are ok, it could be your motherboard.
if you have power but no display, this is called no post.
reseat your memory. if still not working, use 1 memory and try to put it in different ram slot. and if this is still not working, your motherboard is bad

Wireless network

If it is an internal card you should be able to obtain them from Acers website. If it is an external go to that vendor and extract the files from them!

Dissasemble 3610

Why would you want to disassemble it? You could unscrew all the screws on the bottom and that would give you access to inside of it!
