Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P50 Digital Camera
When I put in a fully charged battery in my Sony DSC-P50, I get this message, and then the camera dies. I also have been unable to get the Windows photo software to recognize the camera USB connection any more, to download photos.
Is it a Sony battery. I had a similar problem on a similar Sony that I fried using an aftermarket battery or at least that is what Sony said caused it. Especially if it is an info battery.

InfoLithium is actually combination of two words.
Information and Lithium.
A lithium battery with information inside the battery itself is called Infolithium battery.
A microchip is planted inside the battery with some pre-difined data and this date is checked
out by the camera system processor to determine it's remaining charging level, time duration
for operation with the battery so that user can estimate how long the battery will continue to
work without failure. Please read my blog.
