How to change settings in Outlook to delete message from server after downloading

Hi, follow the steps below. Don't change any of your settings since they already work, but when you get to step 7 this is where you check whether or not you want to remove the emails from the sever.

Open Outlook 2003 then:
  1. Click Tools ' E-mail Accounts.
  2. Select Add a new e-mail account and click Next.
  3. Select POP3, then click Next.
  4. Enter the following information:

    • Check the Remember password checkbox if you don't want Outlook to prompt you for your password each time you check your mail.
    • Do notcheck the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) checkbox.
  5. Click the More Settings button. The Internet E-mail Settings dialog box appears.
  6. Select the Outgoing Server tab:
    • Check the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox.
    • Make sure that Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.
  7. Select the Advanced tab:
    • Under "Incoming server (POP3)," check the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) checkbox. The number in the "Incoming server (POP3)" field usually changes automatically from 110 to 995. If it doesn't, type 995.
    • In the Outgoing server (SMTP) field, type 465. Under it, check the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) checkbox.
    • If you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on both the Yahoo! Mail server and on your computer, check the Leave a copy of messages on the server checkbox. If you want your messages to be deleted from the Yahoo! server once Outlook has downloaded them onto your computer, leave the box unchecked.
Note: After your messages are deleted from the server, we cannot retrieve them.
  8. Click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.

My friends are receiving e-mails from my e-mail address with no subject and advertising sexual products and I am not sending these e-mails. Can you help me?

You need to get your mail host involved, and get their opinion. change the access password to your account. If this event happend with Hotmail, they have been being hacked successfully and apparently cannot do much about it.
Hotmail accounts that got hacked also may notice the deletion of the address book..

Also, anyone can put another return address on e-mail, but the clue about your friends may mean your account was hacked. Did all of your friends get mail of this type, then high odds of hack. Change your password.

E -mail Problem

First thing is to change your email password - this should be no less than 8 characters in length, contain at least 1 capital letter, 1 number and not be somthing that a person that knows you could "guess" - dont use birthdays, partners name, pet etc. Think of a phrase and use the first letter of each word, like "Today I will change my password to something hard" would be T1wcMp2Sh This way it is easy for your to remeber and no one else can hack your account very easily. You should also change your password several times a year especially on public sites.

Now if you can not gain access back to your hotmail account because the hackers took it over - you will have to contact Microsoft direclty and "Prove" you are the rightfull owner of the email account. This will take some time as they have to be certain it is your account.

Good luck - keep me posted.

On August 10, 2009, I went to change my password for and was given two questions only I would know the answers to. I changed my password from ''elephant'' to inuyupik'' and typed in...

Hi Jerome,

I checked to see , ans I notived thar Stbeins yahho account Stebbins_ira (with email as the password "council". I don't know if this is because she changed it or (which I think happened ) never was changed.

What I also noticed in relation to your Yahoo account wbb_scaepa (with the email was that the password "inuyupi" is set, but the data on your ID account was of Stebbins Ira (greeting name, name, adress, ***, age, etc), not yours. Therefore, anyone accessing your account would think it was accessing Stebbins' account. That is fixed.

Now, I urge you both Jerome and Stebbins to CHANGE IMMEDIATELY YOUR PASSWORDS, since at this moment everybody knows them, and can access your account, view or send emails in your name or even get hold of your accounts by changing the passwords.
So, do it now.

After changing the password, Sebbins might have also to change the password for the email account in Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail or any other e-mail program she is using to access her email from her office.

If she is using Outlook Express or Windows Mial, for instance, she would have to open the email program, go to Tools/Accounts..., then Select the Yahoo account (, click on Properties, tehn on Servers tab and change the password to the new password.
Then, she will be able to access the e-mail both through Yahoo pages (webmail) and through her office's email program.

So, once again, change immeddiately your password.

Yahoo Password Forgot

Hello nee_bhatia

This is the email address I have for contacting Yahoo! security regarding a password reset.

Contact Yahoo! to reset password
Yahoo! Account Security:

I've run into the same problem b4. Now, I keep detailed records of all my web mail accounts - including the registration information I used for each one of them. Sometimes we have to learn the hard way. I sure as hec did! :P

I will warn you, they are slow to respond and once they do respond, they are extremely vigilant about making you provide all the information you used when you created the account.

I think you'll find the information HERE more useful and faster. Go ahead and submit the request to Yahoo! Security then, follow the recommendations on THIS page. If you need any help at all, just let us know.

You will stand the best chance of recovering your Yahoo! password at the computer where you set up the new password last night.

If you use Yahoo! messenger w/ that same user name AND you've used it since you changed your password, then you might be able to recover the password using one of these free password recovery utilities.
