Question about Panasonic DMR-EH55 DVD Recorder/HDD Recorder

TVGOS (TV Guide on Screen) stopped working on Time Warner.

My TVGOS still works on my analog TV, but no longer works on my digital TV with cable card. (Toshiba 34HL95) Cable service is Time Warner cable. (There is no cable box.) It had been working in May. Then every couple of days it would stop. To get it back, the TV had to unplugged and plugged back in. Then around the June 12 conversion for broadcast digital, it totally quit. I am in Oxnard, California. Time Warner replaced the cable card, but it still doesn't work.

It looks like I have it working now. Time Warner replaced the cable card. That did not fix it. I have an outdoor antenna on the analog input. I took the cable card out and then scanned the channels on both inputs. The next day I had some of the TVGOS information. I then put the cable card back in. The TV Guide is now working with the cable card. It took a few days before all of the listings came back. I also have TVGOS for the anntena input back.
    Walte300, thanks for the suggestion.

I tried the TVGOS on my Toshiba HDTV again around September 2009, and it has worked since then. I did change it to a zip code for a near by city. I have not tried it again with my zip code. I assume Time Warner or TVGOS finally fixed the problem, or it just works for that zip code. I did have a problem about a week ago, but unplugging the TV power and plugging it back in again solved the problem.

Split your input cable line and connect one end to your digital input and the other to your
analog or air input.

It's a Time Warner issue. It's affected subscribers across the country. Your best bet is to move to another cable company in your area if that's possible.

TV Guide on screen not loading schedule

I'm afraid this will no longer work... With the change to all digital, the TVGOS in your set will no longer work. I have the same set, same problem and spoke directly with a Toshiba tech. Bummer, I have the Symbio DVR and it won't work now either.

No TV Guide On Screen and no clock adjustment

I have two Panasonic DMR-EH50s and one DMR-E85H. I also have a Sony DHG-HDD250 which also uses TVGOS, but it is a HD recorder (that means full DIGITAL capabilities, including the TVGOS ) My TVGOS went out in the middle of April. I messed around on the support sites for about two weeks and found little real info.

The bottom line: I live in Madison, WI & have Charter Cable. None of my DVRs were receiving the TVGOS. Charter was not processing and/or transmitting the TVGOS properly (doesn't really matter the DVRs couldn't receive them), so I called them up, got to their "Level 3 Technical Support" and explained to them that I could not receive the TVGOS digitally or analog (converted digital) on any of my DVRs. They called me back a week later and told me to try it again....

So, all you need to do (if your local Cable Company is sending it properly):

WARNING - All SCHEDULED programs that you have previously scheduled by using the TVGOS will be deleted (NOTE: not the programs that are already recorded on your hard drive, they will NOT be deleted)

Turn the unit off.

Press the up channel & down channel (on the box, not on your remote control) at the same time & hold them for at least 10 seconds. This will reset the entire TVGOS system back to the default settings that were present when you first plugged in your DVR. This erases all previous info that your DVR had about what station it used to get the signal from and forces it to scan all the channels looking for the new channel. This is the only way to force this to occur.

When you turn on the unit, it will run you through the setup like it did when you plugged it in for the first time. Enter your zip code, etc. and when you are done, turn it off & leave it off overnight.

If your TVGOS has the Station Grid but no listings, be patient, TVGO updates its own firmware on your DVR automatically, and that may be all that happens the first night. It should start updating the listings the following night.

If it found the station grid, this is a great sign!!!! This means that your cable company is working on it!!!! It took my local Cable Company about 7 or 8 days to get it working properly, but now my 3 Panasonics and my HD Sony are all receiving full listings!!!!

If you are still getting nothing, complain to your LOCAL Cable Company. It is up to them to ensure that the signal is converted to analog & sent out over cable.

Cannot set clock on DMR-EH75V DVD player?

On this model you must hook-up a antenna or cable to ant input and start with first time setup and wait 24 hrs with the power off for it to gather guide information. I Have a setup guide or go to Panasonics website at www.panasonic.com/dvdhelp/ you must also connect the video out to video in on your tv.

Panasonic DVR, loss of TV Guide on-screen program listings

In our case, Time Warner has dropped the channel TV Guide, it used to be channel 99, but it's not even offered any longer, so it would appear that unless this TV guide info/source is fed to the DMR - DVD by some other method, rather than having to have that specific tv channel, I think we are S. O. L.

TV Guide will not update

The problem is not with your machine. TVGOS information is embeded in part of the a PBS analog signal. With the covnversion to digital, some PBS stations are not sending this data out anymore. Also, some cable companies are not converting the digital signals to be sent out on the old 125 analog channels.

If you try to chase this down with the Cable Companies or PBS techs, you will get; blank stares, help desk happy voices, it's not our problem, we don't support TVGOS, etc.

Personally, I think that the digital transition has killed TVGOS. It ain't comin bak, no more, no more.

Start looking for a replacement DVR that is easy to program.

No, wait, try to find one! Blue Ray along with Cable Company & Dish Network, etc. DVR's have killed the market for a stand-alone DVR's.

But there s always TIVO $$$

TV Guide on LG TV

I have the lg du-42py10x tv with a cable card slot. I have Time Warner cable in Cincinnati Ohio. I split their cable coming in and put one end on the cable input and one end on the antenna input on the tv. I now have TVGOS with my cable card. By putting one end of the cable on the antenna RF input, I received the CBS station in analog. That is what you need to get TVGOS to work.

According to Time Warner cable I no longer have TV Guide On Screen because the PBS piggy back signal is no longer being sent. Apparently, PBS is getting ready for HDTV. I live in Wilmington NC and we went...

PBS in my area says that my cable provider, Time Warner is no longer using the analog signal that contains TV Guide On Screen info. They did this to prepare for digital in Feb. Time Warner says they are waiting for Gemstar/Macrovision to provide a method for the On Screen feature to work. My source at PBS reckons there are over 25,000 cable card TV's that may lose this On Screen Guide. Apparently there is no legal requirement for TV Guide or your cable provider to send the guide.
Users may want to try and contact TV-Guide/Gemstar/Macrovision directly at their toll free number
1-800-386-7380. This may not be a solution but it may be a consolation for users wanting to know why they have lost their TV Guide On -Screen.
