I have just installed a new BX3 Ink Cartridge in my CANON B640 FAXPHONE. I am getting an error message 'Put In Cartridge'. I am not able to receive faxes. I can however send them. Please help.

Remove the new cartridge and check that the holder has not broken. When the lever is moved it should squeeze the holder together. If this is all ok then clean the gold contacts in the holder with a damp cotton bud. If this all fails then its just possible the new cartridge is a bad one and needs exchanging for a good one.

Arm to lock in ink cartridge is broken. where can

Go to precisionroller.com
they have the 2 parts that hold the cartridge in place with pictures so you can tell which ones you need. You can just search for B640 and it will list all the parts they have or the 2 parts you may need are their part# E7393 and E7392 as I have replaced these before for my customers.
Good Luck

Canon B640 printing problem

The scanner lamp is not working. When making a copy, the lamp lights the source document, so if there is no light, the source document 'looks' black. Your machine will need to be serviced.

Check printer error

Check to see that nothing is blocking your cartridge assembly from moving laterally. Unplug the A/C cord from your B640 and manually move the cartridge to the center of the rail. Close the front door which houses the cartridge assembly. Plug the A/C cord back into your unit. The unit should reinitialize and after doing so rest the cartridge to the far right end of the rail. This may not fix your problem, but it will confirm whether there is a cartridge transport problem. This is just the beginning in troubleshooting your problem.

Error Message

Try plugging a phone, with a different cord, to the wall outlet the B640 is using. Do you hear a dial tone? If you do, replace the existing phone cord going to your B640. Now press the "hook" button on your B640. Do you hear a dial tone? If you answered yes, what messages are you seeing displayed now? Once I know your answer, we can take it from there.

The ink cartridge holder was kind of wiggly, so I put a wedge in the side to push the contacts together more. It worked.
