Question about Apple HP DeskJet 990cse InkJet Printer

Open Question

To all,

This printer had been printing fine, despite ink leaking from bottom of unit, all over counter. HP suggested messy process of cleaning out basin under cartridges on right. I attempted that, but unit still leaks. Now, when printer is turned on, grinding noise is heard, and cartridges don't slide to left, and power light, amber light to left of power light both flash. Unit is beyond warranty, so I'm willing to open up whole cover, thoroughly clean it out, if had instructions on how to do that without breaking anything. I have spare printer, same model, to bring to office, while I try to fix this one at home. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

There is a sticker attached on the head of the Ink Cartridges. Did you removed the stickers from your ink cartridges ?

Our hp deskjet 932C printer is leaking ink. What

You could carefully clean this as follows:
put the printer on some newspaper to avoid further spills.
Turn on the printer, then open the lid to allow the carriage to move to the center.
Now unplug the printer, then gently move the carriage to the left and out of the way.
You should now have limited access to the spittoon area.
You can clean this area by carefully scooping out the ***** of ink with a plastic spoon. (Be careful not to drop ink sludge on your printer, desk, carpet or clothing.)
Once most of the ink has been removed then use a crumpled paper towel to soak up the ink in the bottom of the service station.
It may take several rounds of this to clean up the service station.
It is not necessary to completely clean the service station, just get the majority of the ink out.
Once this has been completed you could turn the printer up and clean the bottom area of the printer. Do not tip up the printer before the service station has been cleaned or you are likely to create a mess....

The ink well is full and leaking. How do I clean it out.

There is an ink well below the home run position of the print head and cartridge assembly. If you open the lid of the printer, the print head moves to the center of the rail. You then unplug the printer and gently move the print head to the left and out of the way. If you shine a flashlight in the right hand corner or home run position, you will see the ink well. You can clean it out with a paper towel or a syringe. Obviously, the well is no longer overflowing and the drip should stop.

HP DeskJet 930c is leaking black ink

The printer primes and cleans the cartridges when the cartridges go to the right side of carriage. Sounds like a cartridge has either leaked or you have used it enough the the ink pool is full, or you have layed the printer on its side or back. From experence, if ink is leaking out of the printer, your probley better off getting anithe printer. I have tried to take the covers off and clean inside print, and it is a messy job.

How to remove the top of the 952c to get to the ink reservoir.

HP 952c = Deskjet Printer
Like ALL HP deskjets of this design:
Turn Printer ON (allow for test cycle), then lift top hinged panel.
Print cartridges will be parked in protected area to the right.
When top panel is lifted, they will move out for easy access.
They will NOT move out if printer is OFF.
So Please turn ON as first step.
Best to install new cartridges as opposed to cleaning.
If cleaning, utilize software option for clogged cartridges.
If they are leaking, replace them with new cartridges.
All this is available on HP web site.

Ink leaking problem

There should be a waste bin and it may need to be cleaned. It is like a sponge and absorbs excess ink. It can be removed and cleaned with water. Let it dry fully before putting it back in. This is a messy task so you may want to wear some rubber gloves.

Hope this helps.
