check the door switch,i don't work on lg but on any other dryer if the wsitch is broke the dryer won't start and if the light is on the switch shuts off the light and dryer will start.if you send the model number i can look up the switch for you.open the door and look around the frame where the door closes into, there should be a push button switch or a little paddle that the door hits, when you push in on the switch it should make a clicking sound or i've seen the paddle broke off.hope this helps or if you removed any wires to the door switch you might of wired it wrong

Dryer doesn't turn on. Replaced the power switch

Power switch? Do you mean push to start switch? To see if you have a bad push to start 1st unplug. Open back top panel. Only do this test if you hae two wires going to the push to start switch. Wear gloves so you dont kill yourself. seriously. If you do have two wire then disconnect from push to start. Make sure they are not touching anything!!! Plug machine in. Tunr timer to 60 minutes. Touch wire together then pull apart. If machine kick on replace push to start. If not put everything back the way it was. Jump out door switch. If door switch is jump and still dont work then check motor test. Check harness on motor. If has a capacitor need to check with a cap. tester. You need a service manual to test wheather you have a bad motor. The manual will show you how to properly test a motor (each lead has ohms valve and you have to know what they are to test)

Commercial quality dryer, can't find model #. Stopped working, checking incoming power - ok. Cannot see any fried wires in back - any suggestions for next step

This sounds like it may be the door switch. Without the model number, or a picture of the dryer, I can't give an exact procedure to test it. But with any dryer, it is the door switch that, if bad, will not let the dryer do anything but run the timer.
Try opening the door and manually pushing in the door switch. Try to run it then and see what happens. Sometimes it just doesn't push the switch far enough to activate it (rare, but does happen).

Dryer will not turn on. makes slight buzzing sound when button is pushed. Light goes on, power is on.

Sounds like the motor is gone. Try opening the door and pushing the door swithch inside the dryer door cavity. This may take two people but while holding the door switch, push the start switch and turn the dryer drum at the same time.(in a clock direction) If the dryer starts it means the moter is shot.

Whirlpool 110 electric dryer will not keep running

When you press the start button you complete a circuit bringing the juice into your dryer to run the motor the igniter or heating elements and what ever else goes whee when your dryer is drying. So if you press the button to complete the circuit then when you let go of the button it would stand to reason that it break that flow and shut it all down. However in a dryer there is something of a centrifugal switch that kicks in and keeps that circuit open and flowing with juice once the drum begins to turn and you let go of the button. That's why in a normal situation if you don't hold the button down long enough the dryer will cut right back off or if you open the door to the dryer to throw something in and close it before it quits turning it will stay running. Sounds like you could add this centrifugal switch to the list of possible culprits in this mystery. O7OUT

I HAVE A DRYER THAT WAS WORKING FINE, THEN TURNED OFF. I PUSHED THE BUTTON AND IT WOULDN'T TURN BACK ON. NEXT MORNING TRIED AGAIN AND IT TURNED ON FOR 5 MINUTES THEN SHUT OFF. WON'T TURN BACK ON. I THINK...

Would first check the door switch. This can be done by finding door switch, with door open hold in switch and jiggle around while pushing the start switch. If it tries to start, replace the switch.

Dryer work turn on, buzzes when start is pushed

It may be just your timer switch. Look at all the wiring first. The receptacle to the plug, cord and into the back of the dryer.

Faulty Start Button?

If the dryer doesn't even start to turn when you press the start button, then you have to look at a couple things; The start button itself, the starting relay or the safety circuit. You mentioned that there's a ticking sound... if this sound goes away when you open the dryer door but comes back again when the door is closed, then the safety circuit is working.

It could be the switch itself or the starting relay (if equipped with one). If you're mechanically capable, consider looking at the relay. See if the contacts are being pulled in when the start switch is pressed (DANGER: HIGH VOLTAGE). If it is, the start switch is OK.

Hope this helps.
