Directional Button and L Button Problem and another problem.

Uhm. Hello. I need help.

It started last week when I was playing a game in my PSP. Suddenly, when I pressed the 'HOME' button and the menu shows up I press the directional button but it didn't move. So I thought that it might be just too much use of PSP problem so I removed the battery and put it back on and started to play a new game, in my game, in one menu which is asking the name of the character there, I had a problem typing it because I can't, something is wrong with the directional buttons and the confirmation button and I hear a sound and the sound is like a typing which is very fast. And there, I could not play the game too because during the game, the surroundings just keep on spinning instead of staying put plus the messages of the characters are too fast. I don't know what to do.

And my L button, I think it is loose since when I played a music and when the L button is for back it could not go back.

Please help me.

My directions buttons are not working in the games that I play. They do work when I'm on the reagular home screen. Everytime I try to play a game, I can't because the character only moves in one direction. When I try to move the character....the character moves and when I stop the character, it automatically goes to the same direction. I would like to fix this problem. and yes, I have taken out the battery counted to 30 seconds and placed it back in...still the characters move only in one direction.

I think there might be a problem with your configuration, remove all plugin then try to restore to default setting on setting menu. and/or if your psp installed Custom firmware, the umd speed are set to fast. do this via recovery menu (hold R trigger while turn on psp). you may need to fix L button if it is stuck. you may consoder sending it back to Sony for repair. You can call SONY support at 1-800-345-7669. hope this helps.

I have the same problem, figured it out today, it's definitely something wrong with your L trigger or R trigger, find a working psp, and hold the L or R while pressing home button in a running game, you will find that you won't be able to use direction key to select yes or no.

Look for professional help if you are not confident enough to repair that yourself. Good luck!

Hi imohhamed,

Based on your concern, I suggest trying the following steps:

1. Connect the PSP to your PC with a USB cable.
2. Press the "home" button on the PSP
--> at the lower left of the screen you can see the home button.
3. Use the left-right directional buttons to find "Settings", then the up-down buttons to find "USB Connection" on the PSP.
4. Press the "X" button, your PSP should display "USB Connection".
5. Please wait until your computer tells you that a new USB device has been connected, then show you a new generic hard drive, usually E: or F:
6. Click on the drive letter that corresponds to the PSP unit.
7. Now look for ISO folder then copy your desired game (ISO file) into the folder.
8. When you're done copying your desired games, press the "O" button on the PSP to get out of USB connect mode.
9. To play the game, Use the left-right arrows to move to the game area, then the up-down arrows to find "Memory Stick". Chose that folder by pressing the "X" button again, and you should be able to play all your favorite game!

Hope it helps,

Thank you for using FixYa,

Hey, i have a problem with my sony PSP when i start my PSP the green power light is on but there is nothing to display and the memory stick light keeps flickering too , please help ???

Hello there

You'll need to hard reset your PSP and restore it to its factory settings. Once this is done, your PSP should work perfectly.

Hold the power button on the right side of your PSP down until the device completely powers off. Wait at least five seconds after the power is off before proceeding to the next step.

Press and hold the Select and Start buttons located in the bottom right corner of the PSP.

Press and hold the Square and Triangle buttons (located on the directional pad) while continuing to hold the Select and Start buttons.

Press the power button while holding these four buttons. When the flash (logo) screen appears, you can release the four buttons and your PSP will be reset to its factory settings and the screen will no longer be blank.

My psp joystick is broken. it is stuck down. when i play games, the person is always crouching or going down. and the highlighted section in the menu is always going down. I've looked for solutions on how...

The PSP of my son just so happen to have same problem as yours. Aside from the joystick, the 4 directional button (Up, Down, Left and Right) also controls the directions (hmmm... as the name implies). I was able to correct this by replacing the worn out FLEX PCB at the back of the directional button found just underneath the PSP casing. The trace of the Down Button on the PCB is already shorted to the ground which causes the signal to be always active even it is not pressed.

Directional buttons work fine, until I start playing a game

Ok. navigate to system settings and scroll down to RESTORE SYSTEM SETTINGS, after that turn off your psp and wait for about 3 minutes and turn it back on.
Write back if this doesn't help.

Directional buttons for PSP not working.

Star wars: force unleashed was a bad game... anyways:
Maybe the disk isnt read rite by your psp. maybe the disk is wrong?
Or it could just be that you dont use the directional buttons for gameplay, just the analog stick. XD

My PSP the new version

do you mean the four buttons or the joystick? If it's the joystick it could be the piece of jelly/plastic that connects it to the motherboard

Psp lags / delayed action

Are you running with custom firmware like M33 or HX?

If so, you can switch your psp off (not stand by), and hold R trigger when you switch it on, it should bring you to the recovery menu, where you can setup your XMB cpu speed and Game cpu speed, both set to default will be fine.
