This tv is a Analoge tv.Only can be able to used with CABLE,SATALITES or some other pay tv services to able to get a picture. Can't used the alone trying to recieving the DTV free AIR signal, will not work.Only way to get free AIR DTV to work for this tv is.This tv must have a Digital Coverter box hook up.The free AIR broadcasting signal must go through the tv Digital Converter box to be able to watch Free AIR DTV channels broadcasting.
Subcribe to cable or satellite tv services.Ur dvd/vcr unit will able to be used to record on VHS tapes again.Because cable or satellite tv services the tv incomming broadcasting tv signal still do broadcasting comming in as analog tv signal for the analog devices as analog devices require as it needed.
Are you connected to cable TV or an outdoor antenna? If on cable TV check the signal on another TV or if on an outdoor antenna you will need a digital TV adaptor to pick up local stations due to them not being available in analog anymore. Please take moment to rate my answer. Thanks...
If you're connected to a digital cable box, I would try using the external component connections and bypass the TV's tuner. If all you have is straight cable coming into the house, it could be the cable signal itself or a defective tuner in the TV assuming all the menu settings are correct in the TV.
This is a wild guess, but I believe that you are being **** by the movie industry. The HDMI protocol includes a form of DRM (Digital Rights Management) for high resolution content called:
High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection
Basically this means that the media (disk or broadcast) instructs the player (in your case the cable box) to insist that any downstream devices (your TV) is industry and DRM compliant.
Specifically this evil protection scheme is designed to plug the analog hole and make it impossible for you to record or copy the movie by using an analog output from your TV.
This even restricts the size of the TV you can play the movie on,
thus preventing pubs and bars from displaying the content on big screen TVs without paying royalties.
The message means that the manufacturer of your TV has refused to toe the industry line.
