Question about Intex Automatic Salt Water System for Above Ground Saltwater Pool

3 Answers

I have an Intex Saltwater System, model 8110. It comes on correctly, I set the time, and the green light eventually comes on, indicating that it is working. A few minutes later, it shuts itself off. I have to unplug the unit and plug it back in to get the LED to come back on; the on/off switch will not do it. I've checked the flow sensor and the plates, and all is fine. No deposits on the plates or the flow sensor, and the filter is clean. I no longer have my receipt to send the unit back, and can't afford to buy another one. Please help.

I had very similar symptoms with my 8110, however the Green LED would come on for approx. 1 or 2 seconds before the whole unit would appear to be dead. If yours is actually turning on for minutes you may have a different problem or perhaps your connection is intermittent. Part of the circuit monitors the electrolytic plates. If it detects a malfunction it shuts down. On my 8110 I found the following. Perhaps you have a similar issue.

On the circuit board there are two connections that go from the terminal strip to the electrolytic plates. The leads on the terminal strip are quite large and it appears when they originally soldered the terminal strip to the circuit board they did not apply enough heat. Over time the solder connection deteriorated and the connection became very resistive and generated enough heat at the solder joint that it finally failed. I cleaned the terminal strip lead and the corresponding pad on the circuit board and re-soldered the connection. While I was at it I went ahead and re-soldered all of the terminal strip leads.

I have a new Intex saltwater system I started using today. After about an hour the red light came on. I tried reseting the unit, no help. As the previous poster did, I took out the 4 screws holding the cover on the control unit on the left side,(after unplugging the power). I tightend the screws that attached wires to the circut board and lightly crimped and reattached the wire spade connectors. I also disconected and reattached the 3 power cords to the 3 units on the water line. I plugged the unit back in, programmed it again and it is running fine.

HI,
I have a saltwater system. Now the chlorine reads super high and I can't seem to get it down. The pH is going up to 8 and TA is still at 120.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

What is the recommended end-of-season maintenance for the chlorinating pump?

According to the Intex website, the following maintenance is required for this product:

The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems are designed to operate with a minimum amount of maintenance. It is recommended to always turn the pump on prior to turning on the Saltwater Pool System (see Owner's Manual) unless the chlorine generator is part of a combination pool and filter set, to ensure that air pockets are eliminated from the hoses, and that water is flowing through the unit. In addition, the electrolytic cell should be examined and cleaned if necessary. The frequency of cleaning will depend on the local water conditions, pool usage conditions, and length of time the Saltwater Pool System is operated each day. (See Owner's Manual.)

The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems contain several features that minimize maintenance requirements:

1.) An automatic self-cleaning cycle: The Saltwater Pool System automatically undergoes a self-cleaning cycle to maximize the operating length of the electrolytic cell.

2.) Safety diagnostics: the Saltwater Pool System will alert the operator to three conditions that could result in poor operation: Low water flow through the unit, Low Salt level in the pool water, High salt level in the pool water. If any of these conditions exist, the system will sound a buzzer, and flash a digital code on the control panel (Model 8110) or a Red LED will light up. (Model 6110).If the condition is not addressed, the system will automatically shut itself off to prevent damage to the unit.

Have no owners manual and can't figure out how to set the timer!

code 88

Is the Setup/Start up Code. it is displayed until you set the timer. which you do so by holding down the down arrow till you hear a beep, then hold down the up arrow till you here a beep. from there you can set the time and then to lock it in repeat the process

If you need the manual you can email Intex at www.email.intexstore.com

After going thru the Start up set up our Intex

After setting the time did you remember to re-lock the keypad by pressing and holding the "down arrow" for 5-seconds until you hear a long beep and then the "up arrow" for 5-seconds until you hear a long beep? Several minutes later the Green LED should come on indicating the cycle has started.
