The brush won't move to scrub the did it doesn't

Almost all brushes are driven by a rubber belt from the spindle of a small motor mounted in the head. Some are driven directly buy the machines main motor. Most likely the belt has come off its track or was split or broken. If disassembling the cover or case where the belt resides is over your ability (check the original owners manual or website for your model) , find a youtube video by quering on your machines model to see hows its done. New belts are common locally. Dont force screws when reassembling As you might break the plastic that holds them. See tip below.
TIP: When putting screws back in plastic holes, place the screw in the hole, apply very slight pressure, and slowly rotate it backwards until you feel or hear a slight click then rotate the screw into place normally. This insures you found the original threads and will help prevent 'stripping' the hole of the material holding the screw.

My dyson dc23 has recently started making a loud squealing noise. I have had it for about 3 years now with no problems. but it is so loud I do not even want to use it. I have checked it all over, no c

hi sophie, it's jack at dyson.

if your dc23 is making an unusual noise in use, this could be caused by something simple such as a part or seal being slightly out of position. the rotating brush bar in the turbine head floor tool is driven by the machine's own airflow, so if the brush bar won't rotate as fast as normal it sounds like something is also affecting performance.

this should be easy to resolve, and we may even be able to sort things out over the phone by talking you through some simple troubleshooting checks.

when you have your dc23 easily to hand, please give our experts a call directly on 0800 298 0298 (uk), 1-866-693-9766 (us), 1-877-397-6622 (ca) or 1800 239 766 (au).

we'll look forward to speaking with you.

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your Dyson vacuum. From your description, it sounds like the model number you've supplied may not be correct, as DC08 is a cylinder vacuum which doesn't use a belt-driven brush bar. So we can confirm exactly which model you own and take you through some quick diagnostic checks, I'd encourage you to contact us directly. You can reach our experts by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).
We'll look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,

Beater bar rotating but now making really loud almost buzzing sound???

It is probably a bad belt. That model uses a geared belt and you possibly have a few teeth missing on the belt.It could also be a bad brush or bad motor but less likley.Take the cover off of the power nozzle and inspect the belt.Disconnect it and look at it for missing teelh or a bad spot where they look different than the rest if this is the problem you can stop reading and just go buy a belt.Spin the brush by hand it should give very little resistance without a belt attached. If it spins freely then inspect the ends for a bad bearing.Check the plastic end caps for melting. If they look ok then try moving the brush back and forth slightly to see if the bearing has come apart. If the brush is spinning free and the ends are not showing any movement other than spinning around then inspect the area where the belt rides and make sure it is free of debris like hair and string. Finally plug in the machine with the power nozzle attached and the brush disconected and cover still off and listen to the motor in the power nozzle. If it still makes the noise it's the motor

Actually have model 6594. no suction. any suggestions?

If you hear the motor running and the vacuum is not sucking up debris, I would believe you have a problem with the beater brush. Problems with this brush are usually caused by 1 or 2 if not both of these problems: 1- The drive belt for the brush is broken. 2- The brush itself is frozen due to debris. Remove brush and clean all debris off. Pay special attention to end pieces of the brush that hold it in the vacuum. The brush should rotate around these two pieces. Clean ends and spray on a little WD40 and turn to work it so that the brush turns freely. If you find the brush is frozen and needs to be cleaned, probably a good idea to put a new belt on at the same time. Be sure the belt is put on correctly so the brush turns in the proper direction. Feel free to contact me if you have questions.

Dirt Devil R088100. Cloth Was Sucked Into Hole Below Dirt Holder

Brad, Hopefully it is the belt that you smell burning. I would start by removing the underneath side of the vacuum head. Normally just a few screws that are meant to be remove for general maintanence and circumstances such as this. After removing the screws this should reveal the dirty side of life to you. You may need to remove the roller brush, and inspect the ends to make sure the brush rolls freely while holding the ends. If not the ends may need to be cleaned of hair and strings: ends should pop of and a shaft runs through the middle connecting them. Clean and replace. Move on up the path the dirt travels. The neck where the head and vacuum come together is the next jamming point, if this is where the cloth is lodged chances are the motor may have over heated due to clogging. Your vacuum may have a automatic shut off. You will need to contact Dirt Devil to see if there is a reset for the motor. There are propellers / fan blades at the end of the neck just before the motor housing. This is most likely where the clothe has logged itself causing the brushes on the electric motor to emit the burning smell, if you can remove all obstructions and the unit still does not turn on, check with dirt devil about the reset, Hope this helps.

My sebo does not seem to be picking up stuff off carpet, what can i do. When I use the hose apart from the vacum it does having sucking power.

Unlike most vacuum cleaners, the Sebo Felix has two separate motors - one for the suction and one to drive the brush roll - so there are several things to check. You say the hose has suction, so the problem is in the lower part of the machine. First, check that there's no blockage in the base of the machine, then check that the brush roll is actually rotating when the machine's switched on. If there's no blockage and the brush roll is rotating, then the problem is simply that the brush bristles are worn and you need a new brush roll. If the brush roll is not rotating, listen to hear if the motor is running - if it is, then you need a new drive belt. If the motor is not running, there's an electrical problem and you may need professional help. If you need more advice, post a response here and I'll do what I can to help. Good luck!

My machine ran over some string, made a funny noise and emitted some smoke, the hand suction pipe at the rear works perfectly, the motor runs fine, but the front of the vacuum will not work.thankyou very...

the string bound up the beater bar (brush), keeps the belt stationary, and the motor spindle is just rubbing against the belt and melting it. remove the belt guard, remove the brush, and the belt. clean off the brush bearings (at the ends of the brush) of the string and make sure the ends spin freely from the brush. replace the belt with a new one, and put it all back together.

Roller brush on x5 chipping apart

Not too good, but there are motor problems with these models all the time. Personally I do not know it can be fixed without replacing 3/4 of the machine, which can be pricier than a new higher quality sweeper. I work for a repair shop/ dealer so if you need some assistance let me know.(570)326-1731
