What you are describing is a DLP chip failure. Probably the chip, remote possibility it's the screws that compress the chip down on the formatter board. The possibility of the compression screws enter into the equation with the install of the new lamp. New thermal loading on the socket assy. Regardless of warranty, Contact MFG. The devices rarely go bad.
