When I turn on my sharp tv all I get is static. How do I get rid of the static and have tv shows

I'd bet on the panel but you can try replacing the t-con and see if that gets rid of it

if your seeing static on a digital tv , your problem is "Not" in the tv its in the signal source (cable box, sat scram,Etc)

digital tvs cant produce "static" displays because they don't receive wide spectrum signals like analog TV's did (carol-ann knows this!) there "filters" are very narrow and specific , this is also why there range is dramatically smaller than analog tvs
also everyone by now knows that tv stations can no longer transmit in analog format (in Usa), G4 cell phones got there band space

I do not know what the problem is but check your input source, If that got changed what you are seeing is what you would get.

The circuit board that is nearly in the center of the TV with a metal cover and 2 flat ribbon cables on it is bad.

Chances are your main board is bad, its where all the sounds are producted, a new board should correct the issue, its something you can install yourself with a screw driver, have the set unplugged for about a day before replacing the board so all the capacitors are discharged..you can get a new board at shopjimmy.

i have had to replace the hdmi input board on these units to fix them.

hello. here is something you can try , unplug the set and let it set. for about 10 mins. then plug it back and try tpo turn it on. hope this help's you. let me know "GOOD LUCK"

Sound like its all cabled wrong So its from the source, (wall satalight Whatever ) to VCR in then VCR out to TV, Now when the VCR fires up it tunes the RF output to Chanel 4 and has a strong signal, that over rides just about every thing. Simply way to stop this is one of two ways, press the TV/VCR button on the VCR, or simply turn off the VCR to let the signal pass through.

Try to remove the cover of your unit and clean the tube with a dry cloth. try to look for the anode cap. the one tht is connected to your tube if there are holes in it. This causes the problem.

Try going into the menu and doing a reprogramming or auto search for channels.
