Question about Extreme Networks (45210) Networking Switch

Failure to boot an Extreme Networks 8808

I am having problems booting up the Extreme 8808 switch. If I have a terminal session connected to the console port I notice the following:

Boot Module 05 MAR 00 v6.2
Memory Size: 10000000

Press spacebar for boot menu

UART test in progress....
UART test passed.

CPU memory test in progress...

Then it will hang before it reboots. It will never boot up.

So what I have done is gone into the Bootrom menu via spacebar.

I have forced the config to load from flash. It starts to load the image and crashes with this:

Status Register: 0x34008d01
Cause Register: 0x00000010
Access Address : 0xef0b6763

I have tried booting with all the cards pulled out just to see if one of the modules was causing this, still no luck. Any suggestions on how to get this to boot?

I am hoping it is just a software problem but suspect it might be hardware related.

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Re: Failure to boot an Extreme Networks 8808

It sounds afraid... the switch may may be developing multiple sclerosis on its circuitry or the processor is losing it. have it checkd.

I dont know where to find the password can you help me ?

By default, the CLI does not require passwords. However, if someone has configured a password for the device but the password has been lost, you can regain super-user access to the device using the following procedure.
1) Start a CLI session over the serial interface to the Brocade device.
2) Reboot the device.
3) While the system is booting, before the initial system prompt appears, enter b to enter the boot monitor mode.
4) Enter no password at the prompt.
5)Enter boot system flash primary at the prompt. This command causes the device to bypass the system password check.
6) After the console prompt reappears, assign a new password.

Recover Password

there are two ways ..try them

first :
In order to set a new password do the following:

Make sure you have a console connection to the Foundry device.

Reset the device using the reset button in front or remove and then reinsert the power cable.

Immediately enter b to go to the boot monitor mode at the time of boot up.

Enter no password in boot monitor mode.

Enter boot system flash primary (or secondary).

At the prompt enter the following commands:

FastIron# configure terminal
FastIron(config)# enable super-user-password test
FastIron(config)# write memory
Your new password is now "test".

second... only try if first doesnt work
Set the switch to its default configuration. Make a direct connection to the switch’s console port and power cycle the switch. Immediately after powering on, press <Ctrl><u> to access the system file menu. ]Select <D> to delete all user-defined configuration files. Press <Q> to boot the switch.

hope this solves your problem
