The ink cartridges on this unit alos appear to contain the print heads, or at least HP has no other listed print heads.
This means that with the steps you have already tried, my suggestion would be to contact the warranty company, its possible that a failure of one of the sensors in the unit is causing the message. If so then you will not be replacing that yourself.
HP's phone number is 800-474-6836
If purchased it from a retailer and have an extended warranty, you may also have some options from them.
Most places will require you to repeat the TSing steps you have already done.
If no warranty is availible, http://www.printerrepairdepot.com/, they do free estimates
http://www.714printer.com/ HP specialists.
or, http://www.fixyourownprinter.com, the general search turned up nothing, but more specific searches are availible.
It is possible that the unit may cost more to repair than to purchase a new one.

Ink system failure

Hello,

The error is caused by air in your ink feed tubes. We have a guide posted on our web site at: www.ccl-la.com that will show you how to do a purge of the air and get back going. Look on the printer repair page and the the HP link. This will have to be done with a new set of ink cartridges.

I hope this helps, If so please rate our solution.

Ink System Failure on a HP Photosmart C6280 All-in One

This is likely a cartridge problem except if the carriage is not moving at all. If you still have some of the used cartridges you can used them to trouble shoot by elimination ok. Or contact a nearby technician who has the cartriges to use them for trouble shooting. I strongly believe the one of the print carts is the culprit. Good luck
