SONY Projection TV Grand Wega KF WE42

Randomly turns itself off, with self diagnostic light flashing 6 times. Won't restart most times but will sometimes after turning power source off for 10 minutes or more. Repairmen have been out twice (11 months ago and 1 month ago) and replaced a thermal switch (?) but tv is still turning itself off with same number of flashes. I'm not confident they know what they are doing, your advice would be appreciated.

Same Problem

-   I have the same problem, my television just randomly turned off then stand-by light flashing six times.  It wont even turn on.  I've only had it for just over a year.  The life for this tv is slack, I have had it hooked into a surge gaurd since buying it and Im a busy person so had only used it in moderation.   I also have a User guide for this television, it states a troubleshooting part in the contents and funnily enough it is not even printed in my manual. Its also really weird that I cant find a solution on the Internet or even find out what it means when it does this. HELP PLEASE!!! -   bgurlkazz

-   I went to turn on my Sony tv and I did not get a sound or picture, then the standby light came on and flashed 9 times and nothing. I contacted Sony customer care and the rep informed me to turn the unit off then power it back on. After doing so, the unit"s standby light continued to flash 9 times continously. The rep then gave me the contact number for a repair guy in my area, he informed me that is could cost anywhere from $300-$500 dollars. I have searched the web looking for solutions and obviously SOny tv's have a history of doing this, so I dont understand why the SOny rep could not inform me of whats going on. Unbelievable..... never again, I will stay away from a SOny television next time-   Shug78

-   I have a Toshiba 57HC85 57 in. HDTV Television. It is approximately 2 years old. Originally the picture would turn to a green color. Now the TV is shutting itself off and the power light will flash. To turn the TV back on I have to pull the power plug and plug it back in. Then after a short time it will shut off again.-   rmerrell
