Question about SanDisk Sansa c240 MP3 Player

1 Answer

The Unknowns So, I love my little Sandisk, but I've noticed that about 20% of the songs I've got on it won't play, and that they show up as "Unknown Song". Most of the songs that don't show up are from iTunes and CD's, and I've gone and manually input all the information, Artist, Album, etc. if any was missing, and still they won't play. Help please?

Re: The Unknowns

Are they the correct format for the player? Are they MP3's?

Labeling Unknown Songs: open Windows Media Player and go to library click on artist. The sub folders will be named by the artists and the unknown songs will be in the sub that say's unknown. Click on unknown then right click on the title bar put a check next to artist and album artist. Right click song under artist or album artist or both and type in the name of the artist etc.... This change in your computers Music folders also then sync with your sansa or media player then load songs to it........

Video songs

this is because your mp3 player isn't meant to play video songs. its an MP3 player, meaning it won''t play AVI video files.

Sansa e 250 will not play all mp3 songs as before.

Right clicked on properties of song and added artist and title of that song, hit apply and problem solved.

"Unknown" listed in spots for songs in player's list of all songs

It's the id3 tag information that hasn't been filled out, most likely.   (id3? Hmmm)
Anyhow, depending on the operating system you use and the program you use for your music, it's easy to change.
If iTunes, just import the song into itunes, and "edit Info" and change all the song information. In Windows I believe you can do it in WMP, or by right-clicking the file.
Alot of the time a song just has the info in the filename, but mp3 players use the id3 tag to identify a song.

Mp3 in as "unknown". Won't play

download Switch by searching for it on google...then you can change the formats of your songs to anything you like and you can change how big the file gets converted to!!!

you can make them pretty small and then you can fit about 2,000 songs on a 2 GB!

hope this helps!

don't worry Switch does not give you spyware1.gif or viruses1.gif.. I checked! :]

this will "clean up" the files you want to put on your sansa...

it really works!! AND ITS FREEEEEE

How do I delete songs with my imac

Your songs are splitting into 2 files, one is the unknown file. You need to download a free program called "finder cleaner", open up finder cleaner, select the music folder on your e280 and it will delete the "unknown" files. Also you cant put movie files on it from a Mac. The only way to put movie files on it is from a PC, using the sandisk converter program. I use my e280 with a Mac also and found out these things by doing online research.

Make sure the songs are in the right format. Napster is a real bear about disappearing songs - try another music svc.
