The most likely your right, the TV has a power supply related problem.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

Type your problem for a solution...Turn it on.....screen stays blue.......none of control buttons work.....to turn it off must unplug from walll

If unplugging did not fix the issue you have a problem related to the microprocessor in the set---it may not be bad but be getting bad info from somewhere in the set.

Not likely to be a do it yourself repair.

There is sound, but screen is in gray, black and white lines. the tv turns on, and it is heard but not seen. Channels change, but screen may appear blue or lines.

Hello,

Problem is in either power supply or the Y-Sustain board.

The Y-Sustain is a relatively large board out of which go connections to the side of the display; it's therefore closer to either the left or the right side of the display, has at least one rather large heat sink on it and fat power cables connecting it to the main power supply.

Often there are fuses on that board - one or more. Check those.

if they are blown you can try to replace them, but expect them to blow again - usually the whole board needs to be replaced.

I hope this will help to solve the problem....

My tv turns on but it shows colored verticals lines all over the screen then turns off

If this problems, the tv is causing this by itself, not by somebody or something hitting the LCD screen panel by causing the damaging the LCD screen panel itself. If this problems is causing by the tv itself, the T-CON decoder board is dead. This T-CON decoder board sit wright at the middle bottom of the tv LCD screen panel.Replace this T-CON decoder will solved this problems.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish T-CON decoder board for the replacement.

I have a 26" Sylvania LCD TV that won't power up. Only a rapid flashing amber power light. Is that the light source gone bad - burned out ? Thanks MC

There is a diode located on the power supply of this set that has been a common problem. The location number of the diode is d558. If it is shorted then it will need to be replaced. There could also be other possibilities but this the most common problem that I have found in my notes. If this is the problem, a repair shop may get any where from $50-$150 to fix it. If you did it yourself, the diode would only cost a couple of dollars.
