-   Yep, same problem ... I've put in a tape for playback and the power light starts to flash ... two quick bursts then off for a second before repeating the flashes. Unit shuts off after 30 seconds. I've checked the owner's manual but can't seem to find the answer.-   KingMan48168

-   Yes, I have the same problem.  I own an XL-1 and in the last few months, occasionally when I connect it to power or battery, the power light flashes and the camera shuts off even though it was already in the "off" position on the dial.
I have already checked all 8 of my batteries and they all are fine, and my power adapter is cool as well.  I have also tried to clean my connectors, so I am at a loss now.
Please help me anybody!!!-   goofymatt

same problem, my nv-ds50 powers up, but with the with power light flashing in twos and then powers itself down. The menu button sometimes works briefly when it's powered up. I had been transferring video back to mini dv tape from the pc (pinnacle studio 8) when I first encountered the problem and was wondering if I damaged something in the camera by powering up/down in the wrong sequence using my firewire cable?? I also seem to have a lower case "f" to the right of the timecode when it powers up - & cannot find any documentation as to what that could mean (although perhaps it's a "t" for timecode?)...I tried the c.reset option in "display setup" a few minutes ago - no luck then...but hey bingo, now I seem to have it back on line again ...go figure!
