Had a similar problem with a Wellworth after changing out all the replaceable parts. The new triangle gasket + nut kit was missing the flat anti-friction ring needed to allow the plastic nut to be hand tightened enough against the rubber gasket - without the ring the friction stops the nut turning, and you get a leak because there isn't enough pressure on the gasket. Retrieved the old ring from the trash & put it in - works perfect now! not sure if this is your problem too, but you might want to check the locknut / gasket tightness & seal.

Water runs in the toilet off and on continually?

Either the bottom outlet washer or the inlet valve washer needs replacing. It is a common condition, and if unsure, call a handyman in. An expensive plumber should not be needed.

After toilet flushes tank does not refill

If it has a flapper in the bottom of the tank, the flapper is probably stuck open due to something restricting it or may be just worn out. Take the top of the tank and look directly down at the center. Flush the stool and you will see the flapper come up. A few seconds it should go back down and seal the outlet.

My toilet keeps running. I tried to adjust the float with a phillips but that did not work. There is slight leaking into the chamber over the top.

If there is a continual leak in to the toilet bowl you will likely need to replace the flush valve or the toilet flapper.

As a first step try try cleaning the sealing surface of the flush valve to se if the flapper will seat and make a seal.

If this does not work and the flapper is visibly detioriated and breaking down shut off the water supply, remove the toilet flapper and visit your local plumbing supply store to purchase a suitable replacement. Install the new flapper, turn on water supply.

These illustrated instruictions may also assist:

Although less likely, if the sealing surface of the flush valve is damaged or detioriated proceed with replacement of the flush valve. Again turn off water supply and follow the instructions set out here:

http://www.danco.com/HowTo/How-To-Replace-a-Flush-Valve

If there is not a leak in to the toilet bowl and the water flow does not shut off completely, then water is flowing through the fill valve and the overflow pipe and you may need to adjust the float and float rod to allow clsoure of the fill valve. See here:

Toilet doesn't turn off after flush

The Kohler Cimarron is one of the most popular and reliable toilets out there. (My Favorite). However, depending on the hardness of the water and if you use cleaner tabs in the tank, these factors can lead to a malfunction.
The first thing you should do is hold the flapper (rubber seal inside the tank that releases the water down to the bowl) down with your hands for a few seconds after a flush and see if the toilet stops running. Sometimes the flapper doesn't seal properly therefore the fill valve keeps working non stop. Stopping the fill while holding the flapper down will confirm that your flapper needs to be changed.
If this doesn't work then try this....
The other common problem with a running toilet is with the fill valve itself. There is an attached float on the fill valve that goes up and down depending on the water level. Once the water level rises, it rises the float, and the float tells the fill valve to stop filling the tank. While the toilet is running (hissing), try raising the float all the way up with your hand and see if it stops. If it stops but not consistently with every attempt, then you will need to change the fill valve. I believe the Fluidmaster 400A is the replacement model.

Toilet not refilling water

A couple of thing's to check the fill tube in the tank is it connected from the fill valve to over flow. This fill's th ebowl up with the required amount of water.
Next is the water filling to the line on the fill tube with in 5/8 " from top of tube. Adjust the float to get it with in the fill amount required.

The chain on the flapper need's some slack, you just have to move it a little till it get's adjusted right. Water level low in the tank will affect the flapper also.

I hope this will be of some help for you.

I have a 2yr old Kohler 1.6 oblong toilet. Recently after flushing the water does not shut off. I have to take tank cover off and gently push down on the "guts"

Note: Before doing any major work on your toilet, be sure to turn off the water supply to the toilet...

If your toilet's "guts" have an float ball, try unscrewing the ball a little to lengthen the float (which controls the water shut off)

If that does not work, try putting a little bend in the arm that the float connects to get the ball lower into the tank.

If you are referring to the style float that surrounds the fill tube like a doughnut, most likely you have some sort of build up either on the fill tube the float surrounds, or on the float itself - or both - that is causing friction that not allowing the float to travel (and shut off the water fill into the tank

If you are referring to the flapper at the bottom of the tank that allows water to travel from the tank to the bowl, most likely it is has two "arms" that anchor to the flapper to the fill tube. There may be some buildup on these arms that needs to be removed to allow the flapper to open and close easily.
If the flapper is not closing, you may also have a chain that is binding up when the flush handle is pushed. Clean the chain with some CLR, and/or remove any excess links that are piling up when the flapper is closed.

Premature flap closure on Kohler actuator chain lift

there may be water in the bulb on the flapper. there needs to be only water so it floats while there is water in the tank. if the air is leaking out, the flapper won't float. it might be best to replace the flapper. it's only a few dollars at home depot or lowe's.

Kohler two peice toilet the water just circles and will not flush.there is plenty of water in holding tank that run through

These models need to have a flush valve flapper that has a styrofoam float on the lift chaninof the flapper. Go to hardware store or home improvement store and get a 'Korky brand toilet tank flapper with float 'ball". Cut the rubber ring piece away from the flapper and you don't need it (see cut here marks on flapper). Install flapper and adjust the float fairly close to the flapper.
When the water level drops in the tank and reaches the level of the float on the opne flapper, the flapper quickly closes causing the toilet to have a "surge" of siphon action which forces the water in the bowl to be drawn out.
