Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

My canon F80 multiPASS runs out of colored ink every couple of months even though I do not print in color and have the gray scale print option selected. Still seems to use black ink also, which is OK. I'm thinking that it might be going through a print head clean cycle for every job that it does. If this is the case, will it cause a problem if I just don't replace the colored cartridges or will it dry up and ruin the print heads?

You assume correctly. Your printer uses all cartridges for printing, even for black only prints.

Canon f80 multipass New five years ago never

Are you using Windows Vista or Windows 7? If so, the driver download page at Canon does not provide drivers beyond XP. Otherwise, go back to the XP (or earlier versions) driver downlaod site and download the MultiPASS F80 Software User's Guide. That may provide the answer to your problem. Also, if you are using unpopular, proprietary software programs the driver may not recognize the commands. Good Luck!

Message "wasted ink tank near full" on Canon Multipass F80

Inkjet printers have a fibrous pad inside them that collects the waste ink from cleaning the print head. Over time, this pad fills up with ink and can no longer hold any more. When this occurs, the printer indicates a "waste ink tank full" error.

Replacing the waste ink absorption pads is something an authorized canon service facility can take care of for you. Once they are replaced, it'll be functional again.
