ok,

finally found the fix for this problem..
i had the same problem -
when you are the welcome screen align section
continue holding your stylus on the marker until marker moves to the next location
and continue this process with all four corners and the screen will go past the tap align screen

enjoy, glad i came across another forum for this problem

It worked for me deleting the welcome file, to view the windows folder you have to be able to see hidden files which you can enable under tools then folder options.

If you just want to use the Wing with its hardware buttons and keyboard, and can't, because tech support made you do a hard reset and now you're stuck at the "Align Screen" screen, connect it to a Windows PC with ActiveSync 4.5 installed, let the PC set up a partnership (if you haven't done that already anyway), use Windows Explorer to browser to windows/start up on your Wing, and delete the "Welcome" file there.
Reset (poke the little reset hole) and you can use your PDA phone again, albeit without a touchscreen.

i found that to delete the welcome page to get past the align screen on the wing to use it w/o touchscreen. First when u hook the usb to your computer if you dont have active sync, just open up the file that shows your wing. Then go to the organize tab drop box and go down to folder and search options, go click on the view tab. Scroll down and click to show hidden files and folders and click to unmark the box to hide protected operating system files. then go into the storage of the phone and u should see the windows folder, enter and look for the welcome page file. when done make sure u go back in and reset the defaults.

I HAVE A SOLUTION THAT MIGHT WORK FOR THOSE WHO ARE STILL STUCK ON THE HOME SCREEN. My coworker figured it out. first take out the battery and sim card and rub down both of them and the back part of the phone where the battery goes. then push the soft key on top of the RandT and then press alt+V and then you're screen should pop up. give it a second while it loads before pressing touching the screen

My touchscreen died today too. Sad. It's been a love/hate relationship with the Wing for the past 6 months. When it works, it's awesome, but when it doesn't, I want to smash it. I have so much software invested in this, I'm stuck with it.

My Wing touch screen stopped working back in August 2008. I was able to delete the "welcome page" to get past the touch screen alignment. After 6 months of having to navigate using the buttons I was getting very irritated with this phone so I search the internet and found a company called fonlogix but I had to use www.htclcd.com to get me there. I was able to purchase the touch screen for $45, it took about 6 days to receive the parts. I was able to take apart the phone using the free service manual on the Fonlogix website. I replace the touch screen with the new part, my phone is fully operational again.:^)

You can use the keyboard to enter your pass code and get the phone working. You can then use the keyboard and the arrow buttons to access your phone and software. This is more of a work-around than a fix but at least you can still use the phone.

I just want to let everyone know that Solution #8 does really work even if you aren't able to actually delete the welcome screen (at least, it did for me). First, I followed the suggestion to use an envelope to clean between the cover and the screen. Then I followed Solution #8's instructions to delete the welcome program. I'm on my brother's computer so that may be why I didn't have permission to delete the program. All I was able to do was delete the Welcome shortcut from the Start Up folder (I was going to eliminate all Welcomes one-by-one). Suddenly, I started to see the Windows symbol, the connection strength symbol, the volume symbol, & the task manager at the top of the screen (these are the first ones to show when your screen loads). I did a soft reset. nada. Then I turned off the phone (using the on-off button at the top and then the "mouse"--little round navigation button in between "send" and "end" areas--to tell it to turn off) and turned it back on. The Welcome Screen is gone! I still can't use the screen but I'm past the Welcome Screen and I can use every other part of this phone--keyboard, buttons, email, web, etc. Thank you vdizzle for your detailed instructions on how to delete the welcome page. Wtihout them, I never would have gotten as far as I did.

- I just wanted to say that solution #8 really works. Thank you vdizzle for your detailed instructions on how to delete the Welcome Screen. I wouldn't have gotten as far as I did if you hadn't. I cleaned between the screen and cover first. Tried to deleted it (apparently I haven't permission to do so, but that may be because I am on my brother's computer), but wasn't able to. I decided to delete all Welcome stuff one-by-one. I started with the Welcome shortcut in the Start Menu folder in the Windows folder. I saw the Windows, connection strength, volume, time, and task manager symbols appear at the top of the screen. These are the first to appear normally so I knew I was on the right track. I did a soft reset...nothing. I completely turned off the phone (by pressing and holding down the button on the top of the phone and then using the mouse to shut it off), then turned it back on. The Welcome Screen was gone! I still can use the screen, but all other functions are usable--keyboard, phone buttons, email, calendar, internet--so I'll deal with it, since replacing the screen is too expensive for me (I'm at the end of my contract after all).

SOMEONE POSTED THIS SOLUTION EARLIER (#12 I THINK) AND IT WORKS!!!!!!

If u have done a hard reset & your stuck on the align screen:

1. Take off any screen protecters u have on the screen.
2. Hold the stylus on each target until it moves to the next corner. U may have to do it more than once if u didnt center the stylus in the target.

If your screen stops responding again & u use screen protecters u may have to stop using screen protecters all together :( or it could be a sign that your lcd needs to be replaced.

I cant remember tha name of the person who orginally posted this solution i think its solution #12 but i want to give credit to him/her for the orginal post. It saved me a lot of frustation & money

I just replaced my screen after I damaged it in a fall (and I wasn't even drunk). I found it actually very easy to replace and only cost me $55. I bought my phone on ebay so needles to say I didn't have a warrantyl Only thing wrong now is that I cannot hear anyone that calls unless I use a headphn. I am just glad to have my phone back and can stop using my son's old Nokia Best of luck.Mjr142

touch screen stopped responding today Aug 19, 2008 and the warranty has expired. please help

Comment by stevcan, posted on Aug 19, 2008

My T-Mobile touch screen stopped responding Aug 16, 2008 and the warranty has expired, there needs to be a factory recall on this product since there's a lot of people having the same issue. Its not fair to the consumer after paying almost $500 dollars for this phone. Everyone makes mistakes and HTC needs to take the necessay step to fix their mistake. I know companies are trying to get out of factory recalls because it cost them lots of money, companies like HTC has to realize that a bad name will cost them lots more than they think. But ownership will but integrity behind there name and consumer will buy from them knowing that they stand behind there products. If HTC does not fix this touch screen problem I will never buy from them again and will recommend everyone I come in contact with to do the same. A class action suit will result from HTC negligence to resolve this issue.

Comment by hughck, posted on Aug 18, 2008

My screen stopped working today, 1 year and 20 days after I bought it. T-mobil says too back call the company that made it and pay to have it fixed. This phone has many defects in it and I think all of us having problems with this phone should get together and file a class action law suite.

same thing happened to me ...the touch screen has a crack but not the top of the phone.

Comment by janjohansen, posted on May 23, 2008

I got my Wing in November and the first time the touch screen stopped working was about a month ago. Fortunately I have the maintenance plan so they tried to troubleshoot it and then sent a replacement out right away.

The replacement worked for about 3 weeks, then the same thing happened again. This time they put me in touch with PDA Tech Support (as opposed to regular Tech Support) who told me "this is not a common problem." They sent me another replacement, but both times were unable to tell me if I was getting a new phone or a refurbished one.

I configured the second replacement 4 days ago and the touch screen on that one stopped working this morning!

The people at T-Mobile are all very nice and helpful, but they clearly are not acknowledging that this is a serious problem. I own a business and use this as my primary phone, so it's a big deal for me to have to reconfigure it, etc.

They have offered me a Blackberry Pearl as a replacement, but it doesn't have all the features I need. My next step will be to insist on a different model as a replacement - maybe the Curve, although that's not what I wanted.

I recently had the same problem of the touch screen not responding. I purchased the phone on ebay and was told by tmobile that my warranty was voided. The t mobile rep was sincere in trying to help but after performing the hard reset the phone was basically locked in the welcome/setup stage. I followed the advice of another member's posting an took the edge of an envelope, slid it underneath the gap between the screen and the cover and removed a fair amount of dust. I noticed that during the cleaning the phone would respond to touch and am truly grateful to the member who posted this tip.
