My outside toshiba split system is leaking a lot of water

If the unit is on heat mode, the outside unit is the "cold" end... Sometimes if the ambient air temperature is very cold ( Under 5 degrees C), the outdoor unit can start to ice up. If it ices up too much, the air con will automatically go on to a defrost cycle where the outdoor unit will heat up and melt the ice. Water is then drained out the bottom.. its the opposite of what happens in the summer when the indoor unit has water running out of the drain hose. Especially on humid days..

My air-con is not as cold as before. I tried to lower the temperature, but when i try setting the temperature to 18 degrees, the remote just shows 18 degrees for like 5 seconds before going back to 31...

These is because you have not service your air-con for a long time. The cooling fins are clotted with dirt & dusts accumulated for a long period of time, and the water vapour caught between the cooling fins turn into ice when you set lower the temperture for the air-con. Moreover cool air from the blower/fan cannot pass thru', the cooling fins to regulate the cool air into your room.

You have to get the professionals to do a service on your air-con.

Hope it clarify your predicaments.

Air con unit has ice every whaere on the unit

Make sure all the fans are running. Check the air filters and the indoor coil to make sure it is clean. If it is still icing then get the refrigerant charge checked.

While idle cuts off when air condition is on

Solution: 1. The engine has Idle Air Controller (IAC) that is suppose to keep the engine speed at a constant (even with changing load - AC, FAN, etc.) If the IAC is broken your idle will be rough or even die.
The AC compressor places a large load on your engine. If there is a problem with your IAC(Idle air controller)which is located on the throttle body it will cause the vehicle to die when you turn the AC on.Remove the IAC and check it for carbon. If there is carbon try to clean it up with a wire brush.
2. If your air con is drawing more power than your alternator/battery is capable of supplying - you could try fitting a higher charge rate alternator and a heavy duty battery also ensure battery to chassis earth is sound and clean of rust and grime at metalwork.
3.Another reason for this is that when the air con is on, ice and water forms on the outside of the air con pump and condenser. This ice and water can spray around the engine bay and if there is any electrics that are around it can cause a short circuit. The easy way to fix this is to identify the air con pump and condenser, then spay WD40 on all the electrical components you can see in the direct area.
WD40 displaces water and will cause no problems with the cars electrics.

Why is there water dripping from the air con?

The most probable cause is a clogged drain line.
Also ensure your air filter and the evaporator coils are clean.
Let us know if this helps and good luck.
