Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a Trane XE 1000 and attempted to replace the thermostat. When I saw that the wiring configuration was set up for a different configuration I put the new thermostat back in the box without trying to wire it. I put the old thermostat back on, wired it just like it was (I took a pic of the config before I removed it) and now I can not get the system to power back on. Is it possible I blew a fuse or tripped a breaker in the process of reinstalling the old thermostat? There was one point where a spark came off of the red wire even though I had all the breakers off. Please help, its over 100 out here and I can't get any A/C techs to come out until Monday

You could test this by totally by passing the stat and connecting through a wire linc.
However you seem a little to inexperienced to be doing this and in my opinion you should for safety sake wait until monday, for a tech.

Did the 2 fans have the same rpm. If there is not enough airflow through the outside unit the compressor will shutdown on high discharge pressure. Also make sure the fan blades are positioned right if there is a shroud for them. Did the other motor have a capacitor with it or did you use the 1 from the smaller motor. Sometimes the motor data plate will tell you what size capacitor you need. Let me know what you find.

Check to see if you get 24 volts AC at the gas valve from the circuit board when the igniter is glowing. If yes, bad gas valve or blockage in gas train. If no, bad circuit board or broken wire

Trane xe 1200, can i use the heat blower with out a working compressor, i need heat not air, thanks

you can switch the thermostat to "emergency heat" which will turn the outdoor section off and the thermostat will control the electric heat elements in the air handler if it has them.

THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR SWITCHES, MY FIRST ANSWER WOULD BE REPLACE THE SWITCH SECOND WOULD BE OPEN THE DOOR AND PUSH THE BUTTON IN AND SEE IF THE FURNACE WILL WORK. THIS SWITCH IS JUST A DOOR SAFTEY IF THIS WORKS. I HAVE TAPED A PIECE ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR WHERE THE SWITCH WILL HIT THE DOOR ABOUT A 1/4 INCH THICK AND SEE IF THIS WILL GET YOU RUNNING UNTILL YOU CAN GET A SWITCH
