My son put in a cleaning disc and now it will not eject, the green light comes on to start then the blue light straight after which stops the machine

It sounds like the cleaning disc might have damaged the Playstation 3's disc drive eject motor, especially if it was a disc designed to clean a regular DVD or CD player. Since the PS3 is a blu-ray system, the eye for the laser is much closer to the disc, and thus might have damaged the motor by grinding up against the disc. Unfortunately, this sounds like an issue that will have to be repaired by Sony or by a third party repair center.

PS3 stop reading disks? heres how to fix it.

So your shiney black pearl stopped reading discs huh? Now you are wondering if you can fix it because A)You are out of warranty and don't wanna pay almost 200 bucks to have it fixed or B) You are under warranty but don't wanna be without your PS3 for almost a month or longer .... Maybe you casn fix it on your own, if the problem is simple enough.

Sometimes the PS3 won't read discs simply because the lens is dirty, to find out if thats the case insert a game or blu-ray disc ... take careful note of the disc's 'label' as you put it in ... once it doesn't read after 10-15 seconds eject it ... if the disc's label hasn't moved your blu-ray drive's 'motor' is broken. Best bet is to send back to Sony and pay em. Or take the PS3 apart and try to replace the whole blu-ray drive.

If you remove the disc and notice it has moved your lens is probably dirty. This you 'can' fix yourself. First give the PS3 a GOOD cleaning. Vacuum it, blast it with a can of compressed air, vacuum again. Try disc.

Didn't work? Try a lens cleaner kit.

Didn't work? Time to get your hands dirty ... open the PS3 up (at your own risk) and clean the laser manually with pure alcohol and a q-tip. (video tutorials are on youtube.com)

Disc read errors are our main problem. It isn't some full blown epidemic but IS becoming worse by the day. My reasoning for this problem is simple: The PS3 is a dust MAGNET. I'm betting 90% of the disc read errors are cause by dust and dirt and pet hair getting in the machine and making the lens dirty or causing actual failure of the drive motor itself.

I love the PS3 and wish it didn't fail for anyone, especially this month with great titles almost here, but it happens. Happened to me on April 1st and I found out my blu-ray drive motor failed. A dirty lens I woulda fixed on my own. We really need a good blu-ray cleaner kit to come on the market in all major retail stores.

Peace PS3 fans.

What should I clean my Brinkman smoker with -- is it safe to use SOS pads on the racks (where you put the meat)? How about the inside of the cover - should this be cleaned or left alone? If should be...

If your racks are the chrome ones, yes, WET SOS pads will work. So will the green Scotchbrite pads and a degreasing detergent. As for the lid, the safe way to go is a degreaser and HOT water with a non abrasive rag. If you have a good enamel paint on it, then oven cleaner works as well. Just make sure you rinse it really, really, well with hot soapy water after cleaning it with oven cleaner. (This is how I clean mine).

PS3 will not read any discs

It needs a new laser. It's a really common problem.

I buy mine at http://parts.consolerepairguy.com they run about $75 each.

I run a repair business and that place has best prices aside from Hong Kong which I don't trust.

PS3 will load game but freezes during game. Tried Blue Ray disc as well and it froze also. Tried using a Game Doctor cleaning disk to clean the laser lense but that didn't work. Any suggestions?

It rarely actually helps to clean the laser for the PS3. It needs a new laser because the old one is "burnt out". It's a really common problem with them.

Plugged ipod into ps3 and now the ps3 does not read discs anymore

if you have the ipod still inside the PS3 take it out becuase that could damage up your console bad. you need to look what kind of head on the nail looks like and get out that kind of screwdriver if you dont have that kind look for it at radioshack and look what the problem inside of the console is broke or unplugged pretty sure that the USB port might be unplugged with the motherboard

Turns on fin sometime it wont turn on the freezes n shows lines

if you left it in your car with heat or even let it get too cold you may have caused damage. PS3 machines also say do not transport in the instructions especially with a disc inside this to me says their game system is really fragile and theirs a possibility you broke it even with the slightest bump.

we just took our ps3 apart and tinkered with the parts and cleaned out the dust and it started working again!!!! and it only took three hours.....i suggest buying an intercooler and watch getting any liquids (especially cleaning products) within 50 feet of a playstation.
