Hello james,

The problem happens to be a capacitor. your TV uses the ITC222 Thomson chassis and it has a flaw in which CP150, CP140, and CP120 dries out and then explodes or becomes bloated and causes the problem you are reporting. Here is a URL to get the schematic daiagram:
http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/3692/Thomson_ITC222.html

Once you have the schematic, the actual component is on the Deflection board (the one on your right hand side facing the back of the set. The component is behind a heat sink with a transistor on it. Now make sure you find all three capacitors (the two other are on the same deflection board).

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Tv turns on then shuts off by itself.

The problem was probably not in the power supply. More likely the control board was the problem. Have the shop check that out. Obviously the board they replaced was not the problem. Let me know how this works out.

RCA D52W20 TV powers on fine, then shuts itself off after 5 - 10 minutes. After 20-30 minutes, I can turn tv back on, but then shuts off again in 5 minutes.

it looks like the problem is in the 16v line..try to take it apart..and there's gonna be a 2200mf cap leaky.
that will solve your problem.

RCA HD52W27D

I just fixed my D52W20 by replacing three CAPS. Two of them were vented(bulging at the top). I replaced CP150 2200uf 16v with a 2200uf 50V, CP110 220uf 200v and CP114 220uf 35v. It was also recommended to replace CP120 but I did not have one. Check the green CAPS and replace any that are vented.

you eather have a bad solder connection or a part overheating...this unit has a processor that generate error codes that technician with a special computer interface can read....this is where the troubleshooting begins...first thing a tech can do is check make sure all cables are securely plug in.

Power cutting off and then back on

Most likly a poor or cold solder connection. it could also be a problem in the sweep regulation circuit. Im telling you the longer you wait to have it fixed , its going to cost you more in the future as it will make other parts go bad, with all the surging thatsd going on when it turns on and off.
