Question about Epson Office Equipment & Supplies

Red and blue lines across printouts

Hi
I have an EPSON 1290 with a problem, for some time now when printing both b&w and colour documents the printout shows red lines across the printout and sometimes blue as well. Print head cleaning and nozzle check are fine in that there are no missing parts however a red line appears top and bottom of the print pattern. The lines appear to fade when more use is made of the printer but if left for a few days they reappear. Can anyone advise.

Open printing preferences and click on maintenance. Run the print head alignment utility. Sometimes this will remove the horizontal banding. I had this same problem and had to uninstall the printer and reinstall just like it was new, running the alignment feature before it was corrected. Worked ok for a few days then started again. I assumed that the printhead is bad. To costly to repair and bought a new printer.

Epson Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!!

Hello, In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. That sounds like your problem. Also in Purchasing the Brother's . Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.
These printers have a chip, that will detect if it is Generic or Genunie. When using Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, but you have to fill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. Don’t waste too much ink in cleaning it.

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

My Epson is printing fine lines of different colours across and over the images that I am printing, if i am printing black the lines are blue, if in colour the lines are magenta or blue in different parts...

Check out this link for Stylus drivers for your printer. What I have found is that you can always go down with printer model for updating drivers but not up. Just copy and paste into your browser.

Blue and sometimes red lines all across the prints using an epsom 1290. cleaned heads numerous times. nozzle check OK

Hey, sounds like the print heads, but replacing all the cartridges is best option first sometimes fixes the problem, if it dont you should look for epson 1290 cleaning cartridges on the internet they aint expensive, as head cleaning doesnt always unblock the print heads...

All the best

Lines on prints

Hi kids! I decided to have another go at sorting out my 'lines' problem and have sorted it. See if this might work for you: I had previously done the head cleaning via the printer itself - holding the central ink/paper black button for 3 secs. This time I went to the Epson 1290 window on my Mac and clicked on the utility box. Though the Nozzle check print came out fine I went ahead and did the head cleaning in this box. The next print came out almost perfect so I ran the Head cleaning again and it printed a perfect print. Hope this might work for you. Keep on trying! All the best. Trant

Printing problems

It could be that the underside of your head has a clump of ink on it and this is dragging across the paper. Contact http://www.TheServiceManualShop.com for there document about head cleaning - the document is not listed on the site but they can email it you. If this is not the issue then it could be that a cart has leaked into the cart carriage and is colouring one of the other inks. This is not that likely however as blue is a primary colour and can't be made by mixing inks. If it was for instance green bands that it would be plausible that blue ink was leaking into the yellow or vice versa. Another option is that the piezo thing that actuates the ink being fired is capput and allowing blue to leak through to the nozzles all the time. Or that the print head or main board is faulty. I'd try the cleaning first - it's the easiest option.

Blue lines all over the printing

Did u clean the print nozzle's as well? If that does not solve your problem, you should try and replace the cartridge. (Colour in case of blue lines and black in case of black lines)

Colour lines across the page

Hey Paul, Can you post a scan of the printed paper? It may help diagnose your problem. The most common cause of lines accross the page is either the PhotoConductor Unit or the 2ND BTR Assy.
