Question about Car Audio & Video
Believe it or not you can use cigarette lighter fluid on the tip of a cotton bud to clean the focus lens, the lens is not the lazer itself, thats in the bottom of the mechanism, the lens you can see is just a focus lens that becomes dirty, it kind of works like a telescope, the lazer is like where the eyepiece is on a telescope and the lens on the front of the telescope is the lens on the mechanism and can easily be cleaned with the lighter fluid, and since lighter fluid evoporates very quickly theres no worries, used it for years without a problem, be gentle though when lightly rubbing from left to right over the lens, getting to the lens you will need to take off the top cd clamp, usualy a screw either side with a spring, easily removed to be able to see the lens.

Check the disc you're using for scratches and dirt. If the disc is damaged it won't play properly, regardless of the CD player's ability to function. You can use a CD repair device like the "Disc Doctor" to repair the CD or purchase a new CD.
Clean the laser lens with a CD laser lens cleaning disc. CD laser lens cleaning discs can be purchased at most electronics retailers or online. Insert the laser lens cleaning disc and follow the instructions.
Insert a correctly-formatted, undamaged disc into your player. Listen to see if it begins to read the disc. If it continues to make no sound and gives you the same message, then the problem is probably that your disc is not spinning in the device.
Clean the lens while the DVD player is open. A dirty lens is most likely the cause of your no-disc error. The lens should be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab.
