For some reason my PCI modem hardware can not be found. I get an error message that says the software can not be found an dit can not be loaded. When I bought my deaktop pc I have a bunch of disk that came with it which one if any can I use to reload my PCI modem ,

This is usually because the wrong driver is installed for whatever reason.
To resolve this issue, remove the modem, and then restart the computer. When the computer restarts, Windows detects the modem and attempts to install the correct driver for it. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Log on to the computer as administrator or as a member of the Administrators group.
2. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
3. Double-click Phone and Modem Options.
4. Click the Modems tab.
5. In the The following modems are installed list, click the modem that you want to remove, and then click Remove.
6. Click Yes in response to the "Are you sure you want to remove the selected modem(s) from your system?" message.
7. Restart the computer.
8. The Found New Hardware Wizard starts. Follow the instructions in the wizard to reinstall the modem.

in order to the ethernet port to work under the safemode enviroment, you must choose the option for "Safe mode with networking" if you choose "safemode" only the only the drivers the OS needed to boot will be loaded.

Try moving the modem to another pci slot. If you still get the error message, see if you can get the modem to install in another machine. I would also check to see that you are using the proper driver, and the most recent

reformat it using Windows XP SP2

try to do a microsoft update if you have access to the internet, this will download any hardware drivers that it finds and installs it for you.

Ok, the modem is a simple one. You need to manually install it. Right click on MY COMPUTER, PROPERTIES, HARDWARE, DEVICE MANAGER. Right click the PCI Communications error icon and click HAVE DISK. Scroll down and select the Lucent Win Modem and ignore any error messages and load that driver. You should be good to go. As for the audio, I'll have to send that to you via another account as gmail and sbcglobal doesn't allow the sending of EXE files. The subject line will read DV1000 sound driver.

First uninstall the Lexmark and unplug it from your system. Next, do a SHUT DOWN. Turn on your system, load the CD, go through the installation process, then plug in your Lexmark.

Hi, I have a solution. If you go in device manager, click on the pci simple communications controller, go in property and then go in details. You will see a code like per example PCI/VEN_8086&DEV_27D8&SUBSYS...

The VEN code means vendor and the DEV code means device: in my case the vendor is 8086 and the device is 27D8.

Once you have the two codes, go to www.pcidatabase.com. Enter the two codes and you should get the name of your
hardware. From there you can search for a driver download for your hardware.

In my case the pci simple communications controller was a Microsoft UAA Bus HD audio. I also had another pci
device that didn't work properly, using the same method I found out that my pci device was an HSF PCI internal modem with code number CX11252-11. I had a hard time downloading one of the drivers, after 6 or 7 times the download started so be patient if you have the same hardware
.
NOTE: to access the device manager, go in control panel, then performance and maintenance, system, hardware and finally device manager.
