Yes,the 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all the resistors, the pico fuse are dead.U know soldering, have the soldering tools, and solders right?Tries websites like Tvrepairworld.com,Tvrepairkits.com to buy a convergence kit to repair it ur self. The shop will cost u $300-350 for the parts, and labors.
2,2 IS short protection and 95% chance it means one of the two pico fuses that protect the convergence IC chips are bad.
This model uses two of the chips: STK-392-110 and you would have to pull the light box out to replace them safely (total parts cost will be under 30 dollars).
It involves getting at the chips and the fuses and replacing them: how much skill do you have?
do the self check this model has and let me know what you find:
when it shuts off press ON THE FRONT OF THE TV both the menu and input (or device) buttons at the same time for at least five seconds and release both buttons.
The power light will blink a two digit error code.
for example---2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks (this is the most common error code)
Let me know what code you find and I will tell you what it means and what can be done.
If this helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.
Mits are bad about power supply capacitors failing. It can be fixed fairly cheaply, but requires some skill at disassembly of the tv and unsoldering/soldering.
where you saw blue it sounds like your blue crt is shorting out could be just the video amp so
i would suggest you have a tech look at it for and estimate
Your access should be a a panel near the back or side. You will see that it is somewhat easily removed and should have maybe one or two screws. You will see the casing to the lamp. Go ahead and remove it. Now unscrew the old bulb and replace it with a new one. There is not a lot of screws holding it together. It's a fairly easy process once you find the lamp. You should see the lamp once the panel is removed.
Most units give a error code "22" short protect circuit. If so check:
Q5A00
C557
and or the
convergence IC's (STK392-110) had failed and caused a diode (D522) to short
out.
If Q5A00 check bad there are other parts that have to be checked or
replaced.
