Question about Skil 7 1/4" Magnesium "Mag 77" Wormdrive Saw With Twist Lock Model # SHD77M 72
I purchased an older used Skilsaw (8 1/4") Model 825. I got the saw home and plugged it in to find the blade does not turn when the trigger is pulled. The motor appears to run fine. The blade turns freely by hand, but not at all when the trigger is pulled. When I turn the blade manually it does not appear to turn the motor windings. Also, there appears to be a couple of places when I turn the blade manually where there is a little more resistance / and I can hear a metal on metal type of sound. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It sounds like you bought a lemon possibly. I am thinking that the gears are bad. What you can do is remove the blade and unplug the saw. locate where the screws holding the bearing cover are and remove them to get to the gear and check it. Let me know if you need more help
