Just fixed same problem. My fix was to jump out the heated dry switch. I tied the black with white tracer to the orange. This got the water valve and the drain valve working. This was after I removed the timer and checked all the contacts for continuity.

All the lights come on but the machine does not wash

The problem could be 1) The inlet solinoid in line with the main water inlet faulty this acts as an electrical tap controling the inlet water. 2) The triggering of the anti flood system (polysireene float and micro switch at the base of washer) due to water leak / spill (this device causes the washer to stop until the leak is cleared.3) Water pressure to low.

Dishwasher Trouble No Water entering Dishwasher

Your dishwasher will not let water into it. So you are wondering what the problem could be? There are usually two reasons for this problem. These two things can easily be explained so that you can find your problem.

The first thing that I am assuming is that you have water going to the dishwasher. Make sure that the problem is no external to the dishwasher before tearing into it and finding out later that you have a water feed problem.

cc37146.jpg

Now that we have that clear, let’s focus on the dishwasher.
Problem #1 is usually the water inlet valve. To get to this valve you need to remove the bottom front access cover of the dishwasher. Behind this in one of the corners (usually) the water hose/pipe will hook to the inlet valve. This valve will have two and sometimes four wires going to it. Some valves will have an inlet screen right where the hose hooks up. Make sure that it is clean. If the valve is getting water and it has a slight buzz when it should be feeding water then the valve is bad. You need to replace it. If there is no current going to the valve then you have other problems and need to trace back the power problem.

The one other problem that is most common would be the float switch. This is a plastic round cylinder usually that rises up as the water level rises. If something happens to get stuck under it you will not be getting power to the inlet valve. If this switch has gone bad and is reading in the full position even though it is not, then you will have to replace that.

The inlet valve and the float switch are the most common problems for not getting water to your dishwasher. By finding out which is the problem you can easily fix your dishwasher and be going again.

No water coming through the pipes

If there's no water entering your dishwasher, check these:
Water-inlet valve The water-inlet valve lets water enter the machine. If this valve is defective, you need to completely replace it. It's usually located behind the lower access panel on the left or right side. It's the device with the main water line (usually copper) from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it.
Float switch The float switch is a small electrical switch that's located right below the dishwasher "floor." Above the switch, on the inside of the dishwasher, is a plastic cylinder that floats up as water fills the dishwasher. If this switch is defective, or if the plastic float gets caught or trapped in the raised position, the water can't enter the dishwasher. If the float switch is defective, you need to replace it.

No water coming into dishwasher

dishwasher will not fill with water: This is often the fill valve. You can test the fill valve coil for continuity with a ohm meter, no needle movement = bad fill valve. You can also test the fill valve for 120 volts at the fill valve with a volt meter, power there and no fill = bad fill valve. No 120 volts there, you will have to trace power back to find the trouble maker. Test things like the float and float switch, wires and timer. Fill valves are very bad for working once or twice and then quitting, if your dishwasher fills the first and second fill cycles and then no more water through the rest of the cycle, replace the fill valve. You will need to remove the access panels to get at the fill valve. Dishwasher fill valves also have a screen built into the valve entrance, this can also get all clogged up and need to be cleaned. ----- There's no water entering the machine If there's no water entering your dishwasher, check these: Water-inlet valve Float switch Water-inlet valve The water-inlet valve lets water enter the machine. Dishwasher trouble

Hello trichild4eva,
Welcome to fixya,
.
You said, The water is not coming into my dishwasher, you have checked the inlet pipes etc and the water is going through them, just not making it into the dishwasher

What is the BRAND and MODEL Number and year of your dishwasher. Model can be found on sticker inside.

Did you turn off the power at the breaker for 5 minutes to see if it resets the system?

Here are four things to check for this problem!

Water source turned off
Check to ensure the water source is turned on and water is getting to the water inlet valve.

Float switch
The float switch allows water to enter into the machine to a point where the float will rise up off of the switch and disconnect power to the water inlet valve. If the switch is defective or the float is stuck in the up position, the water will not enter into the machine

Defective water inlet valve

If there is 110v across the two wires on the water inlet valve when the machine is set to fill, the valve should open and the water should enter into the machine. If the water does not enter, the valve is defective.

Defective Timer

The timer is a series of switches that controls all machine functions. If one of the contacts in the timer is defective, the machine will lose that function. knowledge of the the use of a vol/ohmmeter is essential to testing the timer as well as the ability to read the timer sequence chart that is supplied with the machine. In most cases this requires a professional technician.

Not enough water

Be aware that you should remove dishwasher's power cable before touching wires or making resistance measuring !!! Check that the inlet valve get power. In case it does and no water entering the tub, check with multi-meter for solenoid's resistance (disconnect first the wires to it),if no measurement result, you should replace the valve. In case you have a measurement result, remove the solenoid from the valve and check that it's clean from any dirt. In case there is no power to the inlet valve - check that the float switch works. This is usually a small switch attached to a float. The float (usually a cylindrical) located inside the dishwasher at the bottom. As the water level rises, the float rises too. When it reaches the certain height, the float activates its switch, which cuts the electricity to the water inlet valve. If the switch is defective (stuck in the disconnected position)it will prevent power from the inlet valve. The switch is an On/Off switch and you can check it easily by a multi-metr. Good luck !!
