Link seems to be outdated. Looks like a "Http 404" error mostly in chinese characters.

Does anyone have current access to an ECS (Balance) A535 service manual?

My power port is melting power apapters. So I'd like to open my laptop case to look for cracked solder, etc.

I removed as many screws as I could find w/ the case upside down. But this has only loosened a few corners. I don't want to force/break any thing. Are there plastic clips to release or some such? Seems to be a trick to it.

Anyone have any tips/experience to share?

No service manual. Start by lifting off the rear top panel where the buttons are. Start in the middle near the back. Pull back display. It is held by plastic clips. Use a soft tool. It will pop out. Too much force may cause the metal insert to bend. Then you will see the key board screw. Remove and lift up. The plug may be removed after removing a shield. The other cables under the shield can then be disconnected. After removing bottom screws, the top cover can be removed. That includes the screws under the battery pack. Be sure to disconnect the WIFI adapter cables. You can remove the CD ROM by removing the L4 screws. You will then see the power jack. The audio jacks are on a separate board. The power jack is on the motherboard, so, the mother board must be removed. The hard drive will have to be removed. The heat sink for the P4 will also have to be removed. It is bolted to the bottom case half. There is a screw to be removed in the middle of the motherboard. The display cables and audio jack board cables will need to be disconnected. Remember how they are routed and which is the top and bottom. It is hard to switch cables on reassembly because they are different shapes and sizes. Do not to lose or drop screws!

Michelle, I'm not sure what you man by master reset? Factory reset may be what you mean or possibly a BIOS reset? or something else.

I was able to locate the A535 manual. Please look through the manual to see if you can find what you need. If it's something else please reply back with more information and I will try to assist further.

Hello! Did you try ""? The Balance a535 is actually manufactured by Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS). Go to their website and you can find downloads for their laptops. I hope this helps!

Modified power conector polarity.

I know what you're trying to do, and I don't recommend it. I've done some splicing, and had a few that burned up the machine, so I recommend buying a new power supply. Check Ebay, you can generally find one at a reasonable price. Here check this link to Ebay, they have your adapter for $16 and change. You can't beat that. So why take the chance of ruining the machine.
