Motherboard BIOS Hi, My computer is built around a Samsung motherboard which, since yesterday stopped working suddenly. Now, when I power on the pc Only SAMSUNG LOGO ( fullscreen ) appears then a single beep and nothing happens further. When RAM is removed , it gives error beep. I think this means BIOS is working atleast partially. Unfortunately , I never backed up the BIOS nor kept the information of motherboard. Fortunately one of my friend had the same mptherboard and assuming that both the motherboards are same ( as they are in appearance ) , following is the information retrived. System Manufacturer SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO.,LTD System Model M4700 System Type X86-based PC Processor x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 3 GenuineIntel ~651 Mhz BIOS Version PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.0 06WW Chipset is Intel 82810. Can u help me? UVG

Re: Motherboard BIOS

Hi, your motherboard and Bios settings are both ok.
The problem is most likely your hard drive. I reccomend you check this by pressing the delete key repeatatadly at start up to enter the bios settings. at the first screen you should see if your hard drive is recognised [ primary master]. It may be time for a new drive or for a reinstall of your operating system.

Suddenly stopped working ,won't restart my PC?

First of all disconnect all peropheral connected to your motherboard. Take out Your RAM and clean it with soft clothe. Reinsert ram and restart your PC. If you can get display at this point then shut down your PC connect all peripheral back and restart your PC.

If not you will need to replace your ram.

Hi,my computer has stopped working and just beeps at me. mother boardis a Microstar P4m266-8235. Please Help......Thank You

Hi there,

This problem could be due to carious problems.

1) Your motherboard is faulty.
2) Your Processor is faulty.
3) Your RAM chip/s are faulty.

Firstly, you will need to unplug your computer and open it up. Then you need to locate the RAM which looks like this:

Remove one piece of RAM (assuming you have more than one piece) and try to start the computer again, then if it doesn't work, remove the other chip and reinsert the chip that was first removed and try to power up again.

If it works, then one of the RAM chips were faulty and you will need to replace them.

If the computer still does not work, then either your Motherboard or Processor are faulty.

You should then buy a new motherboard which isn't too expensive (be sure to buy a motherboard that will fit in your computer and will also be able to handle your processor.). Place the motherboard with the RAM in to the computer case after removing the old motherboard. Then carefully remove the processor from the old one and put it in to the new one.

Be sure to re-insert any cables that you have unplugged from the old motherboard in to the new one. Then try and power up once the machine has safely been closed again.

If the computer works, the motherboard was faulty. If it still does not work, then your processor is faulty and you will need to buy a new processor and install it.

Alternatively, you can take the computer to a repairman who will test the various components which will save you the hassle of doing all of that work and it will also save you the cost of having to buy new RAM and a new motherboard if in fact it is actually your processor that is faulty.

Thank you for using FixYa! Have a great day and please remember to rate this solution.

Best regards,

I have a PCchips M701 that wont boot after long time I dint use.

It's unlikely that the BIOS itself has been "erased".
The BIOS is "software", recorded on a small "Eraseable Programmable Read Only Memory" chip.
It takes a piece of hardware, an 'EPROM-writer' to update the contents of the chip. Or, the BIOS can be updated by a "BIOS-update" from the manufacturer of the motherboard.

The BIOS has "settings" -- the battery on the motherboard should supply a "trickle" current to the chip that holds those "settings" -- like an alternator provides a "trickle" charge to recharge your automobile's battery.

Try using the "BIOS reset" jumper on the motherboard, to reset those "settings" to their default value, and then try to boot the motherboard.

No display assus motherboard PSN73-AM ASUS MOTHERBOARD

When the PC starts up, do you get a BIOS display at all? Try fitting a graphics card into the board instead of using the built in port, if that works check the BIOS settings to see if the built in adapter has been disabled,

MSi Motherboard suddenly stopped seeing My IDE drives/ CD/DVD

Could quite simply be that its the IDE plug on the motherboard that's gone. If that's the case, you'll probably need a new motherboard.

As far as I can see, you've done pretty much everything that can be done to make sure it's not the motherboard.

Good Luck

Pc won't power up

if you've tried other power supply's and are positive that the power button is connected properly and are getting nothing, no beep no lights no fans, then you got yourself a bad board.
