My computer is built around a Samsung motherboard which, since yesterday stopped working suddenly. Now, when I power on the pc Only SAMSUNG LOGO ( fullscreen ) appears then a single beep and nothing happens further.
When RAM is removed , it gives error beep. I think this means BIOS is working atleast partially.
Unfortunately , I never backed up the BIOS nor kept the information of motherboard.
Fortunately one of my friend had the same mptherboard and assuming that both the motherboards are same ( as they are in appearance ) , following is the information retrived.
System Manufacturer SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO.,LTD System Model M4700 System Type X86-based PC Processor x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 3 GenuineIntel ~651 Mhz BIOS Version PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.0 06WW
Chipset is Intel 82810.
Hi, your motherboard and Bios settings are both ok.
The problem is most likely your hard drive. I reccomend you check this by pressing the delete key repeatatadly at start up to enter the bios settings. at the first screen you should see if your hard drive is recognised [ primary master]. It may be time for a new drive or for a reinstall of your operating system.

I have an old SoYo KT400 Dragon Ultra Platinum and am trying to pump some new life into it as a Linux (Fedora) server. Some statistics: Bios - Award 6.00PC System/Bios version - K7VX4-2AA3 CPU - AMD Athlon XP1500+ Mem - 500MB of DDR333 Stress - None (no overclock, etc) All except 3 items seem OK - I am able to boot and run Fedora 3 and am going to Fedora 12 soon but would like to solve these before I upgrade the OS. The three are: 1. The boot displays a "CMOS Checksum error - Defaults loaded" message. How to fix this? 2. The Northbridge 40MM fan howled like a banshee and ran slow before I cleaned it (now a slow running baby banshee). Do I need that fan? 3. My biggest problem is a lack of soft off. My OS sends the shutdown command and there is a click heard from the box but the video feed, fans, etc, continue to run. I enabled soft off in the Bios along with no time delays in other Bios choices. How to fix this? I no longer have the SoYo manual. Help! Dave
