Question about Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

I have a Crown XTi 4000 and it works perfect. But every now and then one channel gets cut off. The signal display shows movement at one channel which works. And the other channel is dead. When I boost the volume master from the mixer, this cut off channel comes back to life. What is the issue with the mixer? Please help.

Hi

Please try and access your crown Xti 4000 with your computer and set the settings to --

Open up the XTI 4000 in SA.
Double click on input
Check the sum box
Double click on the output box
Check the Bridge button
Double click on xover
LP type LR 24
LP freq, type in 80Hz and hit enter
check the enable box
HP type But 18
HP freq type in 31.5Hz and hit enter
check the enable box
Double click out EQ
Check enable in the first band
type 75Hz in the first band freq box and hit enter
type 3.41 in the Q box and hit enter
Move the slider to +1.5db
Save this preset.

The Crown XTi series amplifiers all have the Parametric Equalizer System built-in but only accessible for FULL use via connection to a computer. There is access to some limited functions through the 3 button front panel system.
The Equalizer has 6 EQ filters per stereo channel which can be adjusted up or down to affect any frequency from 20hz to 20,000hz. PLUS each of the EQ filters can be adjusted (Parametric) to widen the frequency chosen. In other words an EQ filter set at 100hz can be adjusted (widened) to affect frequencies from 50hz to 150hz. It's difficult to explain in words. Or more to your question, you can move the No. 1 filter to 20hz, widen the parametric function, and the result of increasing or decreasing the boost will affect the frequencies down to 10hz.

Here's a screen shot of the XTi functioning and adjusted EQ. Note that filter 1 is set at 25hz, filter 2 is set at 55hz, and filter 3 is set at 70hz. The other filters are set at 0 and are not being used. All 6 filters could be moved/changed and used in the 20hz to 120hz region if needed. The white line and the blue shaded portion is the predicted response curve after adjustments. Also see this image.

Also check your user manual at this link, it will be very helpful--

Crown Xti Series Manual

If your issue is not resolved after checking all the above things then there is a hardware issue with your Crown xti and you'll need to get it checked from the crown. Crown offers a 3year full warranty service.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

My xti 6002 crown amplifier ch2 shows thermal protect and fan is in full speed .what is causing the problem kindly give some tips to repair it

Crown utilizes small signal transistors as thermal tracking devices but i think that this is not the main issue with the amplifier, it could be in the output stage with some power transistors failure, does the other channel works fine?

My amp was blinking while it was working then it went off.Now it doesn't power up..Crown Xti 4000

Power supply likely failed. Electrolytics are the primary culprit.
It should have a switchmode power supply, so it is lmost likely the 5 volt section failed.

The short 1 sounds a little serious though. Have you tried taking off the speakers?? If still there then suggest contacting crown. They have a pretty good no nonsense 3 year warranty

I have two xti 2000 amp running with electrovoice speaker 600w

This is most likely to be a heat issue where the amps overheat and shut themselves off then cool down and turn back on. Please check that the amps have proper ventilation and that any air ducts are clean.
