I have replaced a garbage disposer. I can follow directions and have basic tools. I have tried resetting the breaker and puttin water in the bottom of the dishwasher and then ran it. It still just hums and the bottom now has hot water in it, but the soap packet is still in tact.

Ok, sounds like you have a plugged pump, you need to remove the front panel on the very bottom of the dishwasher, but before you do, please turn off the power at the circuit breaker, after you are sure you turned it off then take a towel and soak up as much water off the bottom of the dish washer as possible, after you do so, you will need a few things, a plastic garbage bag or a piece of plastic sheeting, a flat screw driver, a philips screw driver, a adjustable wrench, like a crescent wrench, this is where you remove the front panel, it should have about 4 to 6 screws holding it on, once you have it off, locate a plastic box not square completely, it will have a hose going to and from it, it usualy has a clamp on it holding the cover on, take the plastic and place it flat on the floor under it, then take a dry towel and lay it on the plastic, you will have water come out of the pump as soon as you remove the cover, along with debris, so now that you have done that, take the clamp loose by prying with your fingures or screw driver, after you get the clamp loose remove the cover slowly, so the towel soaks up the water, clean out the pump box of debris, and wipe the seal on the cover off with a paper towel to make sure it is clean, along with the box edge where the seal touches, then replace the cover and secure it with the clamps, after that is done take a couple cups of water and pour it into the bottom of the dishwasher and wait to see if any water leaks out if not you can remove the towel and plastic from under it and clean up, replace the cover and turn on the power to the dish washer, and run the dishwasher to see if you fixed the problem...........you will always have some humming, but not as bad, also their is a product that you should run every month in their, it is sold in the dishsoap isle by the dishwasher soap, comes in a square bottle to keep your dishwasher clean........hope this helps..........any other questions let me know.............

Dishwasher is not washing

Possibly inlet hose line is blocked with crud from your water source. Please confirm by turning off water under sink, disconnecting hose under dishwasher and, WITH HOSE IN AN OLD MILK BOTTLE, slowly turn on water under sink to verify water flow. If ok, water inlet selenoid is blocked and needs to cleared (with compressed air). Alternatively, input seleniod is burned out and needs to be replaced.

GE Dishwasher motor hums but doesn't engage.

These motors will stick sometimes during periods of not being used. With the power turned off to the the dishwasher, remove the front lower grille. There are usuallly 2 screws on each side of the panel. Looking under the D/W your will see the motor and pump assembly. If you feel around you should be able to feel the motor's cooling fan. Simply rock the fan back and forth and the motor/pump should become unstuck.

Loud humming noise when dishwasher is filling up with water

your model is pretty new. just so you know your warrenty is 1 year parts and labor. 2 years on parts. it should not cost that much money.

there are two components that start before the circulation pump.(wash noise you hear)

first sounds you hear will be the drain pump. usually rattling noises if something is in it but it can make a hum noise if something is jamming the drain propeller up. which is accessible with a T20 torx driver. take the filters out and the mesh filter. and unscrew the screw in the base towards the left. pull out whatever is lodged.

the other humming sound can come from the next component that activates is the watervalve. make sure you dont have a kinked water intake line. otherwise its a bad valve. i have had to change a few of those water valves out already but not for a hum noise on your model. you have a new style water valve. when brands make new parts we get problems fast sometimes..

My dishwasher is making a humming sound and does not rinse?

A humming sound can be a failing wash motor (that drives the water pump) or it can be as simple as a blockage in the the pump area beneath the lower spray arm, under the filter.
Remove the spray arm and the filter top (screws will need to be removed)
Use a flashlight and inspect all over the sump area for debris that is blocking/jamming the impeller area. Reasemble and test with a short cycle.
If the dishwasher continues to make the same humming, it is time to replace the wash pump.
Good Luck! Post back here if you would like more guidance.
