Is the battery dead?

Always start there no matter what the problem,
short of a flat tire

Replace the Torque Converter Switch

Your trans is working like a standard shift,
when you forget to put the clutch in at a stop

shift solenoid for third gear maybe bad up inside the transmission pan

you will have to press the over ride button to unlock the shifter

Sometimes can take a hammer and jar the shoes loose by hitting the backing plate where the shoes ride and free up that way

check the rear part of the motor under the fuel injection its got a plastic cap that breaks and you need to replace the whole cable the other end is under the console

94 chevy cav. after driving for a while, the car shuts off when u break. it will start back up but stalls as soon as you put it in a gear. let it sit for half hour and it will drive again for a while then starts the process all over again. any suggestions

low on fluid? if not it sounds like your tranny has gone bad.

check trans fluid when the engine is running and at normal operating temp. if it shifts and drived normally in forward, it may be time to go to the tranny shop.

Might need trans fluid or could have a bad servo in the valve body which would mean trans. work.
