Hi there, I had the same problem. nothing on the screen.

Take off laptop battery, remove power cord, turn laptop upside down.
Just take off 6 screws on the cover which let you see HDD, Memory,.... ,
take off hte cover .now check on line how to remove the rest of the plastic cover which covering the CMOS battery which is wrapped up with yellow tape. Just remove the battery by holding on the white connector which attached to the motherboard with black and red wires. Gently pull from the motherboard.

Now without the CMOS battery, connect power cord and turn on the laptop, it should turn on. Now turn off , remove the power cord, check voltage on battery , it should measure very close to 3volt, otherwise get a new one, connect the battery, put back both covers, and you are done.

Hi there, I had the same problem. nothing on the screen.

Take off laptop battery, remove power cord, turn laptop upside down.

Just take off 6 screws on the cover which let you see HDD, Memory ,video card, fan, CMOS battery.

take off the cover, Look for white connector, right below video card, connected to the motherboard with red and black wires,on the other end of the wires, CMOS battery is connected which is wrapped up with yellow tape, but battery would be hiding under the rest of the bottom cover. Just remove the battery by holding on the white connector which attached to the motherboard with black and red wires. Gently pull from the motherboard.

Now without the CMOS battery, connect power cord and turn on the laptop, it should turn on. Now turn off , remove the power cord, check voltage on battery , it should measure very close to 3volt (2.8v - 3.0v), otherwise get a new one, connect the battery, put back cover, and you are done.

Important: If you find before this problem, your Battery does not hold the charge or does not even charge, do not connect back the battery, get a new one. Sometime even a dead battery can cause these problem.

    This will fix problems like

1)when pressing the power button , power LED blinks and nothing else happens

2)laptop power up but you get the screen comes on, but you get

" CMOS checksum error", in this case change the CMOS battery.

Hey there, not sure if you can do this or not but it will clear your cmos. Boot up MS-DOS and enter the DEBUG program. Type the following commands: The following commands will clear CMOS:

-o 70 2e <CR>
-o 71 ff <CR>
-o 70 2f <CR>
-o 71 ff <CR>
It may be necessary to reboot the computer a couple of times to correct any CMOS and errors.

I need the backdoor password for the bios. Or a key seq. to remove or reset the bios password.

Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.

When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.

Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper

If you cannot access the machine after if has been powered up, it is still possible to get past the BIOS password. The BIOS password is stored in CMOS memory that is maintained while the PC is powered off by a small battery, which is attached to the motherboard. If you remove this battery, all CMOS information (including the BIOS password) will be lost. You will need to re-enter the correct CMOS setup information to use the machine. The machines owner or user will most likely be alarmed when it is discovered that the BIOS password has been deleted.

On some motherboards, the battery is soldered to the motherboard, making it difficult to remove. If this is the case, you have another alternative. Somewhere on the motherboard you should find a jumper that will clear the BIOS password. If you have the motherboard documentation, you will know where that jumper is. If not, the jumper may be labeled on the motherboard. If you are not fortunate enough for either of these to be the case, you may be able to guess which jumper is the correct jumper. This jumper is usually standing alone near the battery. If you cannot locate this jumper, you might short both of the points where the battery connects to the motherboard.

If all else fails, you may have to clear the BIOS password by resetting the RTC (Real Time Clock) IC (Integrated Circuit) on your motherboard.

A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.

If you where the CMOS battery is, there's beside it a jumper inserted in two of the 3 pins(left pin and middle pin). Remove the jumper from its original position and with it short the middle pin and right pin. This resets the CMOS ROM to its default settings minus the password. Return the jumper to its original position as before. Reboot the computer.
