Question about Vacuums
I have an old vacumme that needs tune up. I left it in the storage for 5 years. Electrolux series 6500 SR.
Is it worth the money to fix it or just get a new vaccum for $100?
NO the new vacuum will last you like 5 years and if you get the old electrolux it will last a long time, but the vacuum should be fine it should only need a new bag and wiped down with a damp cloth

New is not always better. Parts are cheply manufactured out of plastic or weak materials and tend to break easily. Vacuums now are mostly plastic and many pieces just snap together. Getting them apart is very trickey. Taking it to a repair shop is shockingly expensive, but the actual work is quite simple once you crack the code of how to get the thing opened up to do the repair.

The problem with the older vacuums is that parts may not be available. It may be better to get new. But you could take it in and get an estimate first, then decide.
