Question about GE Spacemaker JVM1640SJ Microwave Oven
Have a 1992 Spacemaker over the range microwave that sometimes sounds as if it's not running at optimum (especially in cold weather, it's against an outside wall and has outside vent). It now has a slight electrical smell. It measures less than a cubic foot. Will I have a problem replacing it if I purchase a larger one, which most are? In other words, will it fit in the slot?
Are the grease filters clean?
If you have a charcoal filter, make sure it's not clogged, too. These must be replaced, not cleaned.
In most cases, GE can recommend a "drop-in" replacement oven if you tell them the model number.
They should be able to tell you if larger ones will work in your current slot.
