Under what kinds of conditions (temperature, moisture, etc) did you store this laptop, and for how long?
From Googling it, I got to this URL:

Follow their instructions to see if they help.

Basically, it says to do this:
For most Dell Optiplex desktops, the steps to reset a BIOS password and clear all CMOS settings are:

  • Locate the 3-pin CMOS password reset jumper on the system board.
  • Remove the jumper plug from pins 1 and 2.
  • Place the jumper plug on pins 2 and 3 and wait approximately 5 seconds.
  • Replace the jumper plug on pins 1 and 2.
Good luck!

Dell latitude e5510 laptop got blue screen saying that a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer but it wont do anything ele's help any one

have you made any changes before the blue screen appear? installing a driver maybe? if you have, try to undone those changes by booting with Startup with last known good configuration (undo recent registry and driver change),use System Restore,or Roll Back device driver,Scan your computer for viruses
and Return BIOS settings to their default levels,go to BIOS by pressing F2 or del exactly after you press the power button and the screen show up
if it still in blue screen, that's probably that some of your system file is missing, and you need to reinstall your operating system
Please let me know if it's working or not,i don't like to abandon anyone, and thanks for using fixya

You can go to to order just the screen. If you are technically inclined, and can follow a service manual (that you can also download from you can actually replace the screen yourself.

Its not too hard. Without getting into too much detail:
Turn the laptop off.
Remove the battery.
Remove the Power Button display plate.
Remove the keyboard.
Unscrew the hinges holding the screen to the base of the laptop.
Pry open the border of the screen.
Remove the screws holding the screen and replace with the new one.

Blue lines on dell lap top inspiron

Check whether blue lines are present in bios screen, if Present then Hardware issue

If Blue line not present in bios screen, Software issue = Restore system back to factory settings

Connect External Monitor, use Fn + F8 to extend display on external Monitor ,

if display is fine on Ext Monitor = Replace LCD Kit

if Blue lines are displayed, on Ext Monitor = Replace Motherboard

It just stopped working right

hello, can you still log in "safe-mode"?? is yes loging using safe mode with networking and see if the internet and open control panel.
if yes, download combofix from here,

save the file with random letters and numbers (ie "hdshh767.exe") close all other windows and double click and run it. follow on screen instructions and make SURE while combofix is running nothing is touched on that PC and absolutely no clicking in the BLUE windows that combofix is working in.
it can 15-20 mins or maybe even more if there is lot of junk on the PC.
at the end a log files prepared and opened which help you identify if there was an infections of some sort.

let us me know how that works out or if you need more help..
good luck,
