Question about Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook

1 Answer

CD-ROM Not responding

CD-ROM works for a little while after I turn the computer on, but then it suddenly stops working, mostly in the middle of me copying something onto a CD, and the blank CD is stuck in the drive i.e. the drive will not open.

Re: CD-ROM Not responding

You can get the disc out by inserting a pin in the small hole on the cd draw, but when this happens it means the laser is failing to read the disc and the cdrom is failing, unfortunately the cdrom cannot be changed in the acer notebooks.

Bd rom wont eject

If it does not eject, how does it open?

Make sure it has power (ejects). Check Device Manager in Safe Mode by pressing F8 during boot. Right click My Computer > Manage. Select Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices. Now delete all DVD/CD-ROMs and reboot. Windows will say "New Hardware Found" and install. Check BIOS by pressing F key (correct F key is noted during boot) and make sure BIOS see's the Optical Drive.

Hi I'm Rain ,
Ok follow these instructions to reboot your CD Rom drive.

  1. click start then My Computer .
  2. In My Computer right click the DVD/CD rom drive icon .
  3. In the list , Click eject to see if the drive is being reconized .
  4. If nothing happens repeat steps 1-2
Now when you get to sep 3 you will click properties .

5. In properties click Hardware .

6. In Hardware click the DVD/CD device to highlight it .

7. Click properties .

Now look to the bottom of that window to see device status .
If it says , this device is working properly .Properties .
Next click Driver . In driver you will see a list of option tabs that allows you to , Roll Back driver Update driver and Disable driver .
The other option is Driver Details.

Click Roll Back driver to restore the driver back to the state before you added the latest program . Click ok and follow the screen instructions.
If this fails , you can follow these steps to get back to Driver and chose
Disable Driver . Click ok if another window pops up.
Now what you are doing is rebooting the DVD/CD rom drive.
This will restart all the drivers that are associated with the DVD/CD rom
device .
Now follow all the steps again to get back to Driver .
Now in Driver you will need to click Enable to restart the DVD/CD rom
device . Reboot your system and try the DVD/ CD tray to see if it responds . If it still fails to respond you most likely will need to replace or service the DVD/CD Rom Hardware { the Tray } .

My cd/dvd drive on my Fujitsu Siemens laptop doesnt work

Right click on my computer icon then click on property then ->hardware ->device manager

then check there is any cd/ dvd drive showing in list.
If you can see your cd /dvd driver then uninstall it.
then restart computer.
But if you cant seen then you need to refix your cd dvd rom.
For that pull your cd drive from laptop but make sure there is 1 lock system near rom just press that lock and pull drive then refix it.

Cd rom not working

Backup all your data, copying data in My Documents, Desktop, copying favourites and eventually Outlook data. Copy the data on an external hard disk.
When everything has been saved do a Complete Recovery using the Sony Recovery CD.
The computer will go back to factory settings, in the same state as it was when you purchased it.
That is the easiest way to proceed when you get multiple system problems of this kind.

Cannot open cd-rom drive!

The thing about cd/dvd drives in general is that they die and thats the case here even if you deleted anything of the operating system its self would notice that the cd drive was missing the driver and ask you about it since you havent stated that its safe to say that the drive is dead

Cd Rom not working

Go to device manager and delete the CD-ROM Drive and restart the system (this will get auto installed). You can also do a System Restore to a point/date when the issue was not present. (start > all programs > accessories > system tools > system restore)

Cd rom has stopped working. the light is flashing as if it is working but the cd is not spinning.

Check the disk for scratches, and try other disks to make sure the problem is not unique to that one disk. If all disks fail, then double-click on My Computer, then double click on the CD-Rom drive and see if a CD will run. The "autorun" option may have been disabled, which is very noticeable if you've been used to this feature working. To re-enable autorun, right click on the cd-rom drive in My Computer, and go to device properties - recheck the autorun or autoplay option.

If none of the above resolve, then turn off your computer. Open up your computer with screwdriver. Unplug and replug the cd-rom driver. Restart computer. Test cd-rom drive again.

If it still fails, Make sure you are connected to the internet (I am assuming Windows XP - Vista may vary): Go to Start --> Control Panel --> Printers & Other Hardware --> System --> Hardware --> Device Manager --> DVD/CD Rom Drives - se if the drive has a yellow exclamation by it - if it does, then right click on the yellow exclamation, and click install drivers - windows will most likely find a solution

If all of the above fails, write back with more details, including model/manufatcurer of cd-rom drive, and model/manufatcurer of computer.
