Question about Canon Pixma iP6000D InkJet Photo Printer

2 Answers

Need to replace either bottom case unit QM2-1496 or the ink absorbers. Is this something I can do myself? If so, how do I get the part and directions?

Getting the message my waste ink absorber is almost full. I have pushed the resume button to finish my print job. However, I know this is only a temporary solution. I've been through this before with another Canon printer. On the Canon site it gives part #'s for replacement parts but no informaton on how to install them or how to get them. Is this something I can do myself. I love this printer and have a lot of ink on hand. Not interested in getting another printer.

You can do it yourself but you really need to change the waste absorber..it is compact foam located at the inside bottom of the printer..take out the waste absorber and bring it to the nearest computer store..if you cannot find the same thing then you can put an extension hose for the waste then extend outside the printer and use a small plastic bottle to catch the waste.

Service error 5200

Print head temperature rise error [5200] - Print head (QY6-0042)
- Logic board ***'y (QM2-1520)

Before replacement of the logic board ***'y, check the waste ink amount (by service test print or
EEPROM information print). If the waste ink amount is 7% or more, also replace the bottom case unit
(QM2-1249) or the ink absorbers (QC1-4222 / 4223 / 4224 / 4263 / 4264 / 4864) when replacing the
logic board ***'y. See 4. SERVICE MODE, for details.

This error message has something to do with the print head or cartridge. You may need to replace or re-install the cartridge. It may also be cause by the ink waste absorber is already full and if that's the case you may need to send the printer for servicing but if you want to personally replace the ink waste absorber I suggest you check the printer manual first before proceeding.

Absorber is full canon mp145

All ink printers clean the printhead periodically by squirting ink through the nozzles, and collecting it in a sponge type area in the bottom of the unit. In the Canon ink printer, this absorber is monitored, and when it becomes full, it gives you the full message. The printer stops to prevent ink from leaking out of it. (HP has no monitoring system, you know you need service when your desk is ruined)
To replace the ink absorbers on this model, it requires that the printer be dismantled, and a good tech will wash everything, replace the absorbers, and reset the counter.
You have a low end model that can be replaced for what it would cost to do this job.
I don't think it's a job for the do-it-yourselfer.

Wasted ink near full keeps flashing

It means you need a fresh ink absorber, the whole set is about $10.00 but it's best done at a shop where they can reset the counter after replacement. The ink absorbers are under the printer and cover the whole bottom of the printer case.

Waste Ink Tank absorber full, Need new absorber tank.

On Canon machines it's not a tank, it's an absorbent pad that covers the entire bottom of the printer case. You need a shop to replace it and reset the counter.

Canon PIXMA iP1600 printer... The waste ink absorber is full. Where is it and can I replace it myself?

you can replace it yourself if you are mechanically inclined .. you have to remove the power supply then there are 4 bolts that hold the mechanism in the plastic case .. remove only those 4 bolts, lift out the mechanism and you will see the absorber pads .. you can replace them or wash them if you can find something that will cut the ink .. (yuck) ..

Ink absorber is full

Hi ...

This printer has an ink absorber that takes in ink during the printing and print head cleaning processes. The cleaning process is necessary in order to keep the print head nozzles from becoming clogged. Over the life of the printer, the amount of ink that the ink absorber has absorbed is calculated by the printer. Eventually, after substantial use, the printer will enter an error condition when the ink absorber is nearly full. At this point, printing is still possible by pressing the <Resume> button on the printer. To protect the printer from damage, you will not be able to print at all once the ink absorber is full.
Canon recommends having the printer serviced before the absorber becomes full. We are aware that there are many "do-it-yourself" Web sites that offer instructions for making this repair. Replacing the ink absorber is a complicated and potentially messy procedure. Even if the ink absorber is successfully changed, the ink absorber counter must be reset. Be aware that if you attempt this procedure, it is at your own risk.

Please vote if this helps ... Cheers :)
