SOURCE: I have a yard machine

Your carbs main jet is blocked. Using the primer supplements the fuel input and keeps the engine from becoming fuel starved.

You need to remove the main jet and run a strand of fine wire through the jet to clear it.

SOURCE: 12.5 Briggs riding mower...I have fuel and spark but wont start...new plug, clean carb steps..fuel mix is comming out choke opening when I try to start.

Hi, check your valve clearances,if they are to tight you will have low compression and the noted fuel blow back in your carby, regards Phil.

Tecumseh engine right? Pull the float bowl off the carb. I suspect some water contamination. while it is off clean the jet holes in the nut. They may have varnisized gas in them. contact me with any more questions.

Mower will start but runs rough & stops

Is the carb flooding?is there black smoke coming from exhaust when running, if so it could be the carb over filling with fuel. Is there petrol leaking out of the carb? If not check the fuel pipe is in good condition

Lawn mower starts dies

Try running it with a loose fuel cap. If it runs fine the fuel tank vent is plugged. Some mowers have a little hole in the fuel cap that gets plogged up.Use a pin to clean it out.

Small engine won't start

hello sir, mower will not start or run, does it have good spark, good compression,or only runs on full choke, engine surges up and down, are you getting fuel to the engine if not try this, your carb. is clogged up here is what you can do for a simple repair and other things if you want to, you will need a new air filter, spark plug, oil, if you want to a new blade also ,sears has a mini tune up kit that you can buy. now for the carb, empty fuel tank, place mower on side to where carb is facing up place a rag under carb to catch excess fuel, remove the bowl nut and bowl careful of the gaskets, now spray carb cleaner in the small port holes in the carb steam in the middle of the carb until clean, now spray the bowl nut holes until clean there are three, after cleaning put bowl on the same way you removed it with dip towards front of float, put bowl nut in, now while you have mower on side drain the oil remove filler cap to drain, put pan under spout, mower holds 21 o/z of 30 wt oil,you can remove blade to get sharpened or put new one on,to remove blade put a pair of vice grips on the body where the blade can stop and not turn it is usually a 9/16 or 1/2 socket, put blade on add oil,add new and fresh gas,you should be good to go,hope this helps, what i am telling you here is what i would do if it was here in the shop, any comments welcome, thank you.~~

I can not keep my mower running. It ran great before winter, now it acts like it is going to run.. but dies. I have new gas in it, new oil, and changed the spark plug. What else could it be? craftsman...

Hi, I would suggest taking the main jet out of the carberator and cleaning it with carb cleaner. If you did'nt drain the gas out of it before winter, the gas has gotten old and has plugged up your main jet in the carberator. It could also be that the needle has got **** on it and is stuck, I'd clean that also. Your problem is all in the carberator, and old stale gas sitting in it all winter is the reason.

Lawnmower wont start

Are you getting spark first of all. If you are getting spark do you have good gas? If you have good gas most likely your carb needs some attention maybe you had some old gas sitting in there and something inside is gummed up it might need cleaning.
