CD TRAY ON GX-700 WON'T OPEN - Yamaha Audio Players & Recorders

In the good old days, a CD drive would always have a small hole in the front. To open the tray, you would straighten a paper clip and press a button about 1/2" inside the hole. This releases the latch and starts the tray coming out where you can grab it.

CD/DVD Drive Tray problems
There are two ways to open the CD/DVD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD/DVD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drive tray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive tray pops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CD/DVD disc.
If you still having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and needs replacing.

There is a small hole just above the door on most CD changers. Unwind a small paper clip and GENTLY push it into the hole. This should release the door, and let you look inside. Don't force it because you could damage it more than it is already.

Just below the CD/DVD tray there is a tiny hole. Insert a straighten paper clip in this hole and gently push the paper clip until the CD/DVD tray pops out. You can now pull the tray out until it is in the fully opened position to remove the disc.
Try pushing the eject button to see if the tray closes, then push the eject button to see if the tray opens.
If this foes not work then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and it needs to be replaced.

you need to open the cover of your component and have access to the mechanical system of the CD. The timing gears might got dislocated and you need to manually adjust them.check also if there are belts that are broken replace them.

Looks like your wife damaged the tray. I should have a look, it might be something you can fix with a bit of superglue. It's worth a try!

open the cabinet and remove the magnetic lock placed on the top of the mechanism then u can remove the cd

THE CARRIAGE UNIT (CD TRAY) is damaged, replace the tray
or the drive

or u can use it as is until its dead
