My laptop(sony vaio pcg-k14)screen turns black when i try to boot with a cd........please help me???

Hi niroulanabin ,

For your laptop to detect a cd the following conditions should be met ...

  1. Make sure that the CD is a boot able CD , for e.g. an original windows xp cd.
  2. Make sure that the first boot drive is set to cd from the bios settings.
  3. Make sure that you press a key , when it says press a key to boot from cd , if you don't either the screen will go black or your os wil load as it is in the current state from your hard disk.
Hope this helps ...:)

Sony vaio pcg-7a2l boots only to a black screen problems

If the laptop appears to boot up but the LCD screen is black, then the problem is a back-light fault caused by either a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to determine the fault and fix :-

Hello.

Either you have a memory issue or operating system problem.

First, try reseating (removing and reinserting) your memory (try one module at a time to test).

If still a problem, boot your system to Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly). Go to System Restore and choose a date when your system worked OK. Note: with System Restore, everything, including your documents and other files you saved on the hard drive, will roll back to that date.

If still a problem, the last choices are Factory Restore and reinstall. Accessing Factory Restore (restores to the factory settings and will wipe out anything that you have installed or saved on your PC), is dependent on your hardware manufacturer. Boot your system and press F10, F11, Alt+F10, or Ctrl+F11 to access Factory Restore. Follow the prompts.

If still not resolved, you'll probably need to reinstall your operating system.

Hope this helps.

Sony Vaio KPCG-K25 PC Notebook suddenly won't boot up. Windows acts like it's starting, then goes to a black screen. CD drive sounds like it engages, but it too will just go to a black screen.

For that when you power up the computer press F8 key then if you are able to see safe mode and other menu then enter in enable vga mode.
Then go to start menu then control panel ->dispaly ->settings.
Also make sure that graphic driver installed and working fine.
change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and ok.
then check in normally.
But if you are not able to see even safe mode then you need recovery disk or windows disk.
Boot computer with that disk.
For that when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios .
Then go to boot menu then set first boot device as cd/dvd rom .then save and exit.
Thern it boot with disk.
Then follow the procedure and repair your previous windows.
Let me kno wif you need further assistance.

My Sony Vaio PCG-FR285M just shows a black screen at bootime

If your BIOS loads properly you have some display in your screen like text. But when you turn on and nothing readable on the display then you have problem in the BIOS. Try to flush updated bios in sony website. Recovery disk is only applicable if the system will display "Cannot find boot disk" or bios is properly loaded before you can boot from CD. If you wish you can boot it with Norton Ghost 12 Recovery Disk.
